United States of Hardcore
ADV001 - Ultravibes - Shiny Disco Balls / Thriller (Addictive Vinyl)

A new one from Addictive Vinyl this LP has somewhat of a Jekyll and Hyde personality. Shiny Disco Balls is a classic anthem - style happy track while Thriller is the (somewhat) darker and moodier track.

Shiny Disco Balls drops in with big giant washed out synths which do pick up a little before the song drops into a soft piano breakdown. The hook has promise and could potentially be used better but pretty much plays out to the common denominator and should be gobbled up by any fifteen year old girl. More washed out happy synths follow and we all know how that ends.

Thriller is really another happy track disguised as a dark track. The song has this scary little “hounds of hell” speech with a nice dark Drum and Bass followup that would scare any decent old person at a stoplight. Just when you think things are going to shake up, the D&B ends and the song goes happy! Not that going happy is bad but the overly dramatic, drawn out synths cause you to lose attention before the cool breakdown that follows.
