Vinyl Searcher.com launches IPhone App.
2010-01-12 07:25:23 Reporter: Paul

With the list of IPhone applications getting steadily bigger, many of them with dubious usability (Lightsaber app anyone?) it is refreshing to come across one that can be genuinely useful to a music lover.

The Vinyl Searcher app does exactly what you’d expect it to; it searches for vinyl records for you and it couldn’t be easier to use. You can search by keywords such as the name of the band you’re looking for, the style of music you’re after and even by record label. If you’re looking to narrow down your search to something specific you can combine keywords. For example if you wanted a rare copy of a Sex Pistols single on their short lived A&M record signing you could type in Sex Pistols A&M and you’d come up with a list of Sex Pistols releases on A&M.

Imagine you are a DJ bored travelling to a gig, you can grab those hard to find records from the back of the car. The app is not designed to replace a website simply to complement it. Sometimes it cool to get things done on the move. This allows you to do that.

Imagine you have just come out of the club and you NEED to buy that tune, get on the bus or tube and order it online, if you are a member you only have to remember your email address and password. Easy.

Calling all remixers!
2009-11-05 02:42:03 Reporter: Dave Skywalker
Your chance to remix a seminal old skool classic has come thanks to R&S, TrackitDown and OldskoolMP3.com

Techno and old skool lovers will know just how amazing an opportunity remixing this 1991 rave classic is. As one of the most important milestones in dance music evolution, these seminal hardcore pianos have been reverberating around raves for nearly 20 years and now it’s your chance to turn in a remix that will propel ‘Vamp’ into the future for generations to come.

Belgium based R&S Records sat at the heart of electronic music in the last decade of the 20th Century and was home to the most important producers ever to make us dance. Heroes such as; Aphex Twin, Joey Beltram, CJ Bolland, Dave Angel, Human Resource, Model 500, Jaydee and Golden Girls wrote a non stop wave of anthems that are still revered by the biggest names on the scene today.

Trackitdown.net and its sister old skool and classics download store Oldskoolmp3.com have joined forces with R&S Records to present producers from across the spectrum of dance music a golden chance to reach across dancefloor history and bring Outlander ‘Vamp’ up to date with a bang and a bleep!

Last year cosmic techno production superstar Prins Thomas took the track deep on the R&S remix compilation so the benchmark has been set…

For the first time in the history of many top flight Trackitdown.net remix competitions, a shortlist of entries across all styles will be published for members to vote for their overall winner in a remiX-Factor style public celebration of the best new talent and their skills.

Download the original and parts from Trackitdown.net and Oldskoolmp3.com and deliver your remix entry to vamp@trackitdown.net This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than Monday 7th December to play a part in this historical contest.

The shortlist of best entries will then be published and members of Trackitdown.net will use the unique ratings and comments feature to tell us exactly who they think deserves to win not only a release on the legendary R&S label but well over £100 worth of sample packs and collectors edition products from both hosts.

So, what are you waiting for? ‘Three – two – one – zero!’

New look Core magazine takes a new direction
2009-08-25 03:42:59 Reporter:
Dance music magazine ‘Core’ has recently under gone some striking changes, from its musical direction to the team of industry experts driving it.

And what a breath of fresh air it is. As part of its makeover, Core has gained the respected and forward-thinking DJ/Producer Mark EG as its new editor. On Core’s new direction Mark commented:

“Core reflects the young and funky crowd of our music culture with a focus on the future of music revolution. We’ve found the balance between the underground and commercial and tackle subjects others dare not touch! I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved.”

Unlike past issues of Core, the new look bi-monthly magazine (available in print and digital editions) covers a massive range of genres including drum and bass, hardcore, techno, house, hardstyle, dubstep, gabber, breakcore, hard trance, minimal, hard dance and electronica.

Core is made up of in-house music industry writers that include new music pioneers Kutski, Miike Technoist, DAVE The Drummer, Amber D, Cally & Juice and The DJ Producer - who all report from inside their specialist scenes in a revealing yet unbiased style of journalism.

If you want to find out what’s really happening in club land – Core’s your mag. It has more club coverage and reviews than any other dance music title around, giving the reader a balanced view of events from the international club circuit.

And Core doesn’t stop there. Its new direction is on trend with cutting-edge fashion, games, films and gadgets, adding a much needed lifestyle element to its read.

As well as feature-length interviews, detailed reviews pages and diverse news coverage, there’s also Core TV. Found on the brand new Core website, the TV content is linked to that of the mag; watch DJs being interviewed, view the clubs Core has reviewed, or have a sneak preview of DVD trailers. It’s interactive and very user friendly.

Originally a magazine focusing on the hardcore scene, Core has since grown in age and developed in style to become a forward thinking publication suitable for any dance music lover.

Don't miss out. Be part of the new Core generation.

Core - A Magazine for the Future Generation

Hardcore Heaven/Uprising - The Magna Project CANCELLED
2008-03-31 02:17:22 Reporter: Paul

It is with great regret that we have to announce that the Magna Project event to be held on 5th April in Rotherham has been cancelled. This does not apply to any other event.

The reason for the cancellation is that ticket sales have not taken off which is a real shame as this is a fantastic venue. We can only assume that the reason for the poor sales is the close proximity of the Hardcore Weekender 4 which has been going extremely well and looks to be a sell-out event for the first time.

Obviously people who have bought their tickets will want to know what to do now and there will be two options:

1. We will offer an exchange of tickets against the Sanctuary Festival event. If you have ordered a standard ticket for Magna we will exchange it for a weekend camping ticket and if you ordered a VIP ticket for Magna we will exchange it for a VIP camping ticket for the Sanctuary Festival. (The final ticket value on the Sanctuary tickets is 75 and 90 respectively) This option is only available to people who have bought their tickets from Slammin Vinyl. If you bought your ticket in a shop you must take it back for your cash refund.

or

2. We will give you a full refund to the card originally used to make the transaction or take the ticket back to the shop you bought it from for a cash refund.

We will be writing to all those who have bought tickets from the Slammin Vinyl web-site with the same offer. Please contact us at gallery@slamminvinyl.co.uk or on 020 8363 5566 to let us know which of the two options you would like to take.

Event Express coach tickets will be refunded automatically back to the cards used to make the purchase so there is no need to contact us on these.

We apologise for having to break this news and assure you that this is the last thing that we want to happen. This is the first event we have ever had to cancel and it has been a hard decision to make.

Regards
Hardcore Heaven & Uprising

It is over one year since Tiësto dropped his last ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ mix album and for those that didn’t know this is the definitive mix album series from arguably the biggest DJ in the world. With each installment subtitled by a different country, each mix inspired by the sights, sounds and experiences received whilst on tour in that particular place.

With Volume 6-subtitled ‘Ibiza’, Tiësto returns to the legendary Island after two years of absence. Ibiza is not only the island with the best events, the greatest venues and superb DJs, but to Tiësto it’s a magical place that breathes the energy not found anywhere else. The island has many beautiful, secret spots to be discovered and still delivers the craziest parties at the best clubs known in the dance scene.

With In Search of Sunrise 6, Tiësto has captured the atmosphere of Ibiza, showing his love and dedication to the island and the party people in two sparkling CDs that include a multitude of fresh and exclusive tracks that will definitely make you relive the summer season all over again.

Tiësto has had a massive year in 2007, beginning the year by launching his fourth artist album ‘Elements Of Life’ on Nebula / Virgin EMI and becoming the first DJ to undertake a ‘solo’ stadium world tour featuring custom made stage, sound and lighting all based around the concept of the albums title, since the tour launched in April this years Tiësto has performed to over a quarter of a million plus fans across the globe making him one of the biggest DJs on the planet.

An Interview with The DJ Producer
2007-08-14 07:58:31 Reporter: Al Twisted

Luke McMillan aka The DJ Producer over the last 15 years has become a household name with UK rave music. From his early releases on Storm, Skrewface and the immortal Deathchant right up to this year's releases on The Third Movement and his own Rebelscum, you know a Producer track is always going to be special. Previous collaborations include tracks with Manu Le Malin, Hellfish and more, a tribute to his varied musical production. Over the years he's played everything from hard techno to drum & bass, Dutch new style to Deathchant and speedcore to Mongolian flute music (ok the last one isn’t true). A true rave legend and a pleasure to watch on the decks, it’s the west country superstar The DJ Producer. DJ Thumpa kindly took the time to ask him some questions for scottishhardcore.co.uk

Gatecrasher Refurbishment!

GATECRASHER intend to restore the Grade Two* Listed Building with a design that highlights the extraordinary historic character of the building. In keeping with clubs already spectacular interior, Gatecrasher aim to add a new sense of glamour and excitement to the club, surpassing expectations with world-class production, luscious décor and sensational sounds to suit all tastes.

Simon Raine, Managing Director at Gatecrasher commented;

“Media Nightclub was once an important part of Nottingham's identity and attracted international attention on the dance scene through its championing of cutting-edge dance music. In its heyday the club stood at the heart of the dance scene, and fresh wave of youth culture.

The venue remains at the pinnacle of club-land in Nottingham, however club culture moves on and it is important that we recognise this. We aim to add a new excitement and energy to the club. We’ve listened to what our customers want and re-modelled the club accordingly. Comfort and service is now as important as the big sound system. The refurbishment will provide clubbers with a totally encompassing environment with all the facilities you could dream of.”

Gatecrasher plan to run club-nights throughout the week encompassing all styles of music, which will reflect the tastes and desires of Nottingham’s clubbers and their lifestyle, with an elegant slant on clubbing to suit every taste and every persuasion.

Simon Raine added:

“Gatecrasher Nottingham will focus on all genres of music. We’ve asked clubbers what they want and programmed our nights accordingly. Gatecrasher is no longer a trance club. Our music policy on a Saturday will be varied and non-specialist covering all genres of music from house to R & B, disco to party anthems.”

GATECRASHER proudly remains one of the most potent and recognisable names in world clubbing and currently owns five nightclubs throughout the UK. The Queen Street venue is the third club to be branded and developed under the GATECRASHER umbrella alongside GATECRASHER ONE* in Sheffield and GATECRASHER DISCOTHÈQUE in Leeds. All venues now play a wide selection of music styles enabling the brand to transcend its dance roots and connect with youth culture in all formats.

Party Proactive present The Awakening @ Turnmills
2007-01-14 09:20:41 Reporter: proacitveHQ
Party Proactive returns to Turnmills for its first event of 2007!

PARTY PROACTIVE present THE AWAKENING
Saturday 24th March 2007
Turnmills, London - 10pm to 6am

For our first event of 2007, following the massive success of our debut at Brixton Academy alongside HeatUK and The Gallery for NYE, we present

THE AWAKENING @ TURNMILLS, London.

The waiting is finally over, here is the full line up for the 1st Party Proactive of 2007!

Lots of thought and much debate has gone into putting this together and we hope it excites you as much as it does us! With three international artists and a few surprises we feel that once again Party Proactive delivers a unique line up, that is diverse, fresh and something different to the norm.

In the legendary Turnmills main room we have:

Axel Karakasis, jetting in from Greece for his first ever UK appearance. This man is hot property with his funkin, groovy, techno productions supported by the likes of Marco Bailey, among others. Its no surprise he makes his debut in the DJ Mag top 100 at number 90!

Dali, the only woman on the world famous Israeli Psytrance HOMmega roster, flies in from Israel. Tough guitar riffs, pounding psytrance baselines and soaring vocals - if the crowds reaction to Eskimo was anything to go by then Dali is not to be missed.

Headlining T2

Legendary French electro house, DJ Fafa Montecco from Paris, with his debut at Party Proactive and Turnmills. Having sold millions of records, played gigs across the world and with staunch support from John Acquaviva and Deep Dish, this is going to be something pretty special!

Rising star Johnny Arthur will be treating us to sleazy electro tech. Tipped for the top by DJ Mag, at the tender age of 23 he can already count Paul Woolford as one of his fans!

Fabio Stein releases New single on Maelstrom
2006-11-06 12:27:40 Reporter: Tom Cypher
Brazil based FABIO STEIN has been making waves with his unique style of instrumental tech-trance productions with the likes of JUDGE JULES, EDDIE HALLIWELL and JOHAN GIELEN.

Brazil based FABIO STEIN has been making waves with his unique style of instrumental tech-trance productions with the likes of JUDGE JULES, EDDIE HALLIWELL and JOHAN GIELEN. With his notoriety increasing amongst the tougher trance ranks, we tracked FABIO down and he was chomping at the bit to sign to MAELSTROM RECORDS after we made our offer.

This is FABIOs first official worldwide release with the double AA side release TRAN-4 and STATE OF TRANCE.

TRAN-4 has been a staple part of JUDGE JULES DJ sets now since being given a copy by FABIO at a gig in Brazil sometime ago and is a haunting tech-trance monster of truly epic proportions. Weve already been inundated with requests from DJs for this tasty number. If youre after something on the slightly moody tip, this is the perfect track.

STATE OF TRANCE on the reverse is a big room trancer with an old skool type feel to it with its stabby, rhythmic synth chords and off-beat bassline and acid squigglesa perfect record if DJs want to raise the level of their sets to euphoric levels!

Nukleuz Records Go For Xmas No.1 With Hardcore!
2006-11-01 16:13:44 Reporter: Tom Cypher
Leading UK Dance imprint Nukleuz Records are going for christmas No.1 this year with a viral video that edits boshing hardcore over a well known TV commercial - read all about it here!

HINUKLEUZ RECORDS ARE GOING FOR A CHRISTMAS NO.1 SINGLE!

That's right, you heard us right! Nukleuz Records are going for Christmas No.1 with a viral video sensation that parodies a famous cleaning product and was the brainchild of a (then) 16 year old kid messing around in his bedroom keeping up?

Cillit Bang is one of those truly unique results of 21st century technology and youthful creativity. A viral video sampled from a cult TV advert for cleaning products brand Cillit Bang infused with some classic choice edits against a pounding hardcore dance track, uploaded to one of the many sites that allows users to post videos (not YouTube but Luckykazoo) and low and behold the whole online world was able to watch the result!

It was by far the most popular video on Luckykazoo logging up over 2 million views! Its also enjoyed Radio 1 support from Chris Moyles and Scott Mills, Virgin Radio support from Christian OConnell, been featured in The Guardian and The Sun Online as well as having TV support from The Gadget Show and requests for use by MTV and many more and this is only the start!

Featuring the legendary (yet totally ficticious) TV celebrity Barry Scott, 'Cillit Bang' is already topping mobile phone download charts. The video is currently No. 1 in the O2 dance video downloads and No.1 in the 3 Mobile video downloads and with your help looks set to storm the chart!

To find out more or to view the video simply log on to www.cillitbangremix.com or watch this exclusive interview with 18 year old producer Jakazid www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rTH3Z888kY

DJ Promo (NL) in London!
2005-12-09 09:01:11 Reporter: nekro
London's darkest hardcore event returns!

Promo will be playing a set of classic hardcore techno, recreating the sound and atmosphere from the old Dutch gabber parties for his first performance in the UKs capital city.

There will be a rare chance to see Traffik spinning classics that were played on South Londons only dedicated hard techno/acid pirate radio station Energy FM. Also, after a five year absence from the scene Pressurehead (Surgeon 16 Recordings), now one of the UKs top hip hop DJs, will return for a one hour scratch speedcore set.
With DJ support from The Producer, Simon Underground, Rotjong and Onrust (two of the most talented upcoming DJs from Rotterdam) and others this makes for an awesome night of the darkest music from early rave right through to terrorcore. Not to be missed!

Propellerhead Software's ReBirth RB-338 pioneered a new era of music instrumentation that merged the principles of "virtual reality" with historic synthesizers and drum machines. This concept seemed impossible at the time, but has since become a common trend in music software.

On September 1st, 2005 Propellerhead Software announced that the era of ReBirth had come to an end and created the ReBirth museum to commemorate its history.

morecore.net - 100th mix online
2005-01-22 05:38:22 Reporter: phar
morecore.net - after 3 month - 100 mixes online - 7000 downloads

morecore.net - after 3 month - 100 mixes online - 7000 downloads

I can hardly believe it myself, but it just happened. After only 3 month online morecore.net reached the goal having 100 mixes online. What's even more stunning are downloads and pageview counts: almost 7000 hardcore mixes downloaded by ravers from all over the world and not less then 1.1 million pageviews since launch in november 2004.

I'm extremely proud to have mix nr. 100 a very special one going online this weekend. morecore.net member and friend wheelleg digged up the deepest roots of hardcore in his "where it all began" set. Presenting the tracks that created a completely new style of music almost 20 years ago and in that way established the scene we and you all enjoy so much nowadays. I suggest everyone give this mix a listen as it clearly shows the "more core opinion" to stop thinking in squares, open your mind again and simply enjoy the music ... cause thats what it's all about! Think cross style, stop splitting it all in genres like hardcore, breakbeatz, oldskool, hardstyle and so on ... its all fruits coming from the same tree!

A big big thanx to the label owners and producers who contacted me in the last month. I'm very happy we found a way where everyone is happy with and allowing morecore.net to do what we do and what was the idea when starting all this: supporting the scene.

I cant say it often enough: massive respect to everyone who supported me on this project by bringing new mixes, new members, news & infos, posting in forums, spreading the word or just visiting the page. this is morecore ... this is all yours!!!

- phar

p.s.: after this absolutely wicked jump start we are going to enable new features to the site and sort out a few things - so there will be no new mixes going online for about 2 weeks.

Seriously, this is a once in a lifetime event. It is a genuine birthday party - meaning we have spent a whole shitload of money on it and even if we ram the place (as we expect to) we wont make a profit. This is a party for the sake of partying.... a chance for the people that have been involved with the label to all get together and have a proper knite out....

And... Don't forget...

After the dramatic success of Return to Cheese at Slammin Vinyl 2 years ago, and Return to Cheese, Fancy Dress Edition at Elation last year, things are about to get silly... So brush off your platform shoes, get your whitest flares, raid Oxfam for that pimp daddy zoot suit you always wanted and dress to kill!

For everyone who comes in 70s gear there will be a prize (it will be rubbish ) And Grob will personally buy a drink for the best dressed Disco Diva... After their support last year, I'm sure the Elation boys will give away some prizes to well dressed Pimp Daddies!

N.E.C. Online Store Promotion
2004-08-16 14:24:19 Reporter: sasha10

The Nu Energy Collective online store started as a small outlet for its in house record labels. After 4 years of supplying a superb combination of quality service and speedy delivery the store has grown to a massive database of HARDORE, HARD HOUSE / TRANCE, GABBA and all things HARD DANCE! Now the N.E.C store is the most upfront place to get your music online.

Because we manufacture so many labels we can supply you with promo copies at the same time the DJs receive them. As well as our in house labels we have many pulls with other labels and are able to stock other promo material as soon as it gets to plastic. As well as vinyl the N.E.C store stocks CDs, merchandise and tape packs from events. Couple all this with the digital download section thats coming soon and you have a whole portal for upfront music!

For the next 4 week period August 16th September 16th the Nu Energy Collective online store is running a special promotion to give something back to its customers. All UK orders in this period will only incur a postage and packaging charge of 2!! No bullsh*t or hidden fees what so ever so ..yeaheven if you order 20 records you will only be charged this amount. Add this to the fact that our basic vinyl price is only 4.68 plus vat and you have one cheap way to get next day records to your door.

As one last thank you we would like to offer a free CD of 100% unreleased material to any customer that makes an order of over 30 worth of stock. The CD is either mixed exclusively by Kevin Energy or recorded from one of the ground shaking Nu Energy Collectives LIVE shows!

Thank you for shopping at the Nu Energy Collective.

Although React was enjoying its best period of turnover and profit for 5 years, the label was owed in excess of 1,000,000 in distributed income from 4am/Flute, part of the Beechwood Music group of companies that went into voluntary administration in June. Following Beechwoods closure, React was unable to extract any monies due or trade out of such debts and as a result the label was forced into voluntary administration on 16th June 2004.

During its 14 year history the label became a leading force in dance music and club culture, synonymous with cutting edge compilations and singles through series that included Reactivate, Drum & Bass Arena, Bonkers, Caf Del Mar, Good Times, Dope On Plastic and Real Ibiza, as well as classic singles such as Candi Statons You Got The Love, and Age Of Loves Age Of Love. Each release reflected a particular moment in dance musics history, and more often than not, React became an important catalyst in bringing that scene, sound, or DJ to mainstream attention. The results were such that the label became a commercial force to be reckoned with, as sales of some series reached upwards of 600,000 units.

With the future firmly in their sights, Resists first release is Drum & Bass Arena featuring Fabio & Grooverider, scheduled for release on August 2nd.

Further releases on Resist include: Norman and Joey Jay present Good Times 4 on 13th Sep, Hardcore Till I Die on 6th September, Ed Rush & Optical Out Of The Box CD/DVD 4th Oct, Luke Slater Fear & Loathing 2 on 11th Oct and Bonkers and Bugged Out Presents Erol Alkan later in the autumn. Distribution in the UK is via SRD.

JAMES HORROCKS, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF RESIST MUSIC SAID: It was with great regret that we were forced to close React after 14 years of emotional investment. However, everyone involved has been incredibly understanding and supportive and the light has now been firmly switched back on with the launch of Resist.

Oblivion MP3 downloads Part 2 - Sy, GEOS etc...
2004-06-30 18:18:22 Reporter: Edd_Jedi
More free Oblivion sets to download!!

After the huge success of the last set of MP3's uploaded a month or so ago, I have now added a further 5 sets to the collection (in place of some of the other ones.) They are:

Sy + Unknown + MC's Marley + Ninja @ Oblivion, January 2003
(Wicked 75 minute set, from 95 happy hardcore to jungle!)

DJ Fluid + MC Double L @ Oblivion, March 2003
(Upfront drum + bass/jungle)

DJ X-Cite + MC Marley @ Oblivion, September 2002
(Wicked hard trance set from the ex-dreamscape/stormtrooper records resident)

GEOS (DJ Robbo, MC Marley, Ronnie Gee + Becky) @ Oblivion, June 2003
(Exclusive upfront hardcore from the Raverbaby/DFM records crew - you won't hear this anywhere else!!)

DJ Jedi + MC Marley @ Oblivion, March 2003
(92-93 old skool, n-trance, 4 Hero, DJ SS etc...)

As with before, the best thing about these sets is:

1) They have never been heard before
2) I have permission from ALL DJ's to upload and share these sets
3) They are totally free and at YOUR disposal!

They are all encoded at around 40kbps, so small enough to download, and perfectly listenable!
All these, plus a few more, as usual can be downloaded from the official Oblivion website:

http://www.oblivion-rave.cjb.net (Soon to be re-designed!!)

Just head for the music link at the top, then click on the "audio" link.
(Or the direct link is HERE )

Enjoy, and until next time, hit me with any requests/ideas or comments :)

GBH Closing down
2004-06-17 08:25:06 Reporter: MC Fugitive

Well im not quite sure how some of you are going to take this, but here goes anyway. after 8 years of partying and generally causing mayhem in the west country I have decided to call it a day. The 8th birthday bash this weekend is going ahead as planned and is set to be a pretty good one. But im afraid their will only be one more after that.

I would like to thank everyone who has ever attended our parties and especially those who have been involved behind the scenes, your loyalty and help has been outstandingly kind.

I feel that even though things are going well for us at the moment I simply do not have the time to be able to organise these events anymore and as such it is better to leave on a high rather than letting things slip and allowing the good times to be forgotton in favour of less happy ones.

Thanks guys, this isn't sad news, the scene is a lot stronger now than when we started GBH even though there are a few changes happening at the moment. Slammin will be suprising you all in the autumn with a crackin event and there are many new promoters on the scene who have strong dedication and fortunately a few more years of energy left than me.

Take care of yourselves until we next meet, I will post the date of the final event when I have worked out where it should be (any ideas?), love to you all.

South coast giants Destiny and Oblivion to return.
2004-06-10 14:55:42 Reporter: Edd_Jedi
Club Destiny in Bourenmouth to open 16th July.

After a long period of searching for new venues, I can confirm that south coast giants Destiny and Oblivion will be returning by the end of July!
For those that remember, Destiny @ the Manor in Bournemouth was THE biggest rave on the south coast from 1995 - 1999. It was famous for it's "3 arenas, 1 vibe" policy with the finest in drum & bass, hardcore and trance, and bringing ravers Helter-Skelter-quality line-ups for under 10 every single month. (Don't remember? Check THIS old flyer!)
After the Manor closed in 1999, Destiny has done as few smaller events at venues such as The Firestation and Millenium, but has not put on an event in nearly 2 years.
Oblivion (formerly Friction) was Bournemouth's monthly hard dance night from 2001-2003. Specialising in the harder side of hardcore, it started out at the Millenium club, and relocated to the Showbar in 2002. Unfortunately the Showbar shut its doors to "underground" music in December 2003, so Oblivion has been lying dormant since then.
Now, both are ready to make a full-on comeback! Destiny has recently bought the Millenium Club in Bournemouth, a 2-floor 450 capacity venue that has been empty since June 2002. The club is undergoing a complete refit, and will be ready to open under the name "Club Destiny" within the next month.
Every Saturday, Destiny will provide the best in Drum & Bass as it always has. Oblivion will then be on a monthly Friday, providing quality hardcore and old skool, with other underground dance events being held on the remaining 3 Friday's by outside promoters. What this means; 4 DRUM + BASS and 1 HARDCORE EVENTS IN BOURNEMOUTH EVERY SINGLE MONTH!!
The first event will be on 16th July, with the first Oblivion being on 30th july with a massive line-up (Ratpack, Sy, Druid etc!) THIS WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE, BE PART OF IT!!

Big news - FREE oblivion mp3 downloads
2004-06-03 12:54:41 Reporter: Edd_Jedi
Free mp3 downloads from live events, featuring most top DJ's

With lots of talk recently of sites selling mp3 downloads rather than releasing tape packs or vinyl, I've finally managed to get the web space to start something I've been intending to do for a long time.

Since 2000 I've put on over 40 events, and have recorded pretty much every single one of them. I've booked pretty much every DJ you can think of, but until now these great sets have been sat gathering dust. So, as I have no intention of making money out of them, or releasing tape packs, I'm doing something I think a lot of promoters should do anyway - give them away FREE as mp3 downloads!

The best and most important thing is, ALL the DJ's featured have given me permission to do this, so it is totally kosha, and nobody is losing out - only you are gaining free, unheard sets from all the top DJ's!!

The sets will not all be in high quality, as this is something some of the DJ's have requested, but they are good enough to listen to, and higher quality ones will hopefully be available soon.

I will be redoing the site in flash format over the summer, but for now the old html site is still up:

www.oblivion-rave.cjb.net (oblivion website)
or
www.dj-jedi.cjb.net (my website)

Click on "music" at the top, and then on the "audio" link at the bottom. There, as well as mp3 downloads of tracks I have produced, you will also find the sets.

So far there are only 2 up - one by DJ Krome + MC Charlie b and one by myself. More will be added soon - from the likes of Sy, Druid, Ramos + Supreme and many more. If there are any you want to see in particular, please let me know and I'll get on the case!

I doubt any other events will follow suite on this, so hopefully this is something unique for you, with no other intention than getting these wicked sets heard again.
Thanks, and any feedback welcome!

New Label TILTED RECORDS Launch Press release
2004-02-13 09:44:39 Reporter: GILL DREAMSCAPE
GILL DREAMSCAPE launches new record label with 2 partners. Demos wanted so nows your chance get them in now. Read the full story to get address and more info

DREAMSCAPE promoter Gill has joined forces with DJ Mantra & Web Design company director Mike Brown to create a new label which they hope will soon be the label of choice for Dance music producers and music buyers alike. "All 3 of us have a great love for dance music and although TILTED will initially deal with mostly HARDCORE we hope to have seperate divisons to cater for DnB as well as other music" says Mantra of this new project. The Tilted team have decided on their first release and are currently crossing the preverbial T's. "When we heard the demo to this track all 3 of us had the same reaction (SILLY SMILES) it just made you want to dance" said Mike "It's very uplifting and seems like the perfect 1st release for us".

Why call it Tilted? "We've all been accused of having twisted humour and one day one of us replied to an accusation with 'We're not twisted, just Tilted' and it's as simple as that - no great thought just a simple comment none of that what shall we call ourselves rubbish ha ha" laughs Mike.

Tilted are not just any record company they have 2 sudios (One of which is mobile) and so dont just want finished tunes "Its about development we all know that even a tree grows from a seed so we're ready to listen to anything if we think its viable we have no problem getting people into studios and developing the tune or having remixes done of it, we're all deeply against music pigeon holing so dont want to stick to any so called area of a paticular scene. is Gills answer what TILTED is about. All 3 agreed that there is a lot of amazing talent out there producers, mcs and singers are all welcome to send us stuff. We've had many a long conversation with each other and successful producers but the same thing always crops up which is the Talent is there but alot of people just dont have the experience of production to have a polished tune. That's where the idea for Tilted came from Says Mantra "Its all good and well saying stuff lacks production but harder to take the time to actually help, So we decided to put our money where our mouth is and TILTED was born. Last word was from Gill "The company is currently in the same building as eSp DREAMSCAPE so I get 1st dibs on pa's, DJs etc. Cool eh?".

That's where we leave them but just one thing... Watch this space guys cuz This Rumble Is Set To Become A Roar!

The Tidy Army Wants You!
2004-01-26 13:53:28 Reporter: Newzkitten
Pull out your cargo pants and hold on to your helmets! Its time to enlist in the Biggest Boot Camp for the Harder Generation the 5th tidy Weekender to be held at Pontins in Prestatyn on March 26th 28th!

The last Weekender sold out in 3 weeks and over 200 were on the waiting list. Its expected that the 5th Weekender will sell out in record time!!

At the front line for TW5 the biggest lineup for a weekender yet with Yoji Biomehanika and Nish (LIVE), Lisa Lashes, Tidy Boys, Oliver Klitzing, Paul Glazby, Andy Farley, Lee Haslam, Anne Savage, Amber D and many more signed up.

This time The tidy Army is looking for new recruits. For the first time ever a tidy event will have a strict dress policy and everyone will be required to go Camouflage Crazy on opening night its the only way to join up!

While Corporals Amo and Andy (The Tidy Boys) swear in new recruits in the main arena, Yoji Biomehanika and friends will go mental oriental in Arena 2. Arena 3 will be transformed into a seductive and sensually arousing spectacle of debauchery as The Trophy Twins encourage recruits to make love not war during another Funky Friday.

Saturday night will play host to the biggest Battle of the Sexes in Hard Dance history as the tidy girls and boys take over Arenas 1 & 2 and compete for the ultimate in dancefloor supremacy. Who will keep their dancefloor busiest and be crowned King or Queen? Arena 3 will be a no holds barred assault on your senses as its taken over by Brisk and the Next Generation crew for more barmy army Hardcore!

Weekender 5 goes out with The Big Bang in the main arena on Sunday and Arena 2 plays host to all things bouncy with debut of The Bouncing Bomb.

tidy Weekender 5 will pull clubbing from the trenches. Anyone who has been to one will tell you, its not just about mind blowing production and awesome DJ's - the Weekenders have a very special spirit; a sense of taking clubbing back to its roots.

Oblivion - news - dates - line up - new resident

Seems like we have been away for ages! hope you all had a good Xmas and New Year!

First of all..
I'd like to officially announce the arrival of Dj Dolphin onto the Oblivion team.
Greg impressed us a lot last year, and now that North is finished, its makes sense for him to have a worthy home. Welcome aboard Greg!

We thought last year went well, an overall up in attendance for hardcore parties must mean something! Thank you to everyone who turns up time and time again, for those of you who dont, its about time you did because you are missing out!

Our last party in December was rated by many as the best UK hardcore event of 2003.
We hope to push ourselves even more this year and smash open the mould once again!

Our events will now be the first Friday of every other month, all going according to plan.
The odd night on the reverse month..

Keep checking the SITE or the BOARD for up to date details..

Enough ranting, heres our first line up of the year..

DJ Sass Back on the Decks
2003-08-04 06:42:35 Reporter: Section 42
After 3 years of Silence DJ Sass Plays MGK

I have recently got friendly with one of my favourite all time DJ's the Legend DJ SASS! Sass used to play all the big raves and had a manic Speedcore style a lot like Loftgroover and HMS. Slightly better on the decks in my opinion I more or less wore out a Dreamscape DJ Sass set on tape I played it so much. Not just Speedcore either this man has been a pioneer of the Techno scene in the UK for years. Also known as the Fokka DJ for Jungle and was DJ Space face in the Acid days! Originally a cheesy club DJ who turned to the Harder Sounds and ran influential labels throughout the 90s. Theres not a style that Sass hasnt played or been involved with over the years. Sadly Fate played a cruel hand in 2000 with a serious car accident, which stopped his career at his peak. Anyway enough hype the Man is coming to Bristol for a special 2 hr set of his favourite Hard Techno tunes. He hasn't played out for years Because of his injuries and medication for them. You know he is itching to get behind the decks again and wow the crowd 3 years is a long time for a entertainer of this calibre. He's partying with us all night not just for his set so its going be a wicked party.
There is a interesting interview about the man on my website - just gone on line www.mgk.2ya.com

2003-07-12 21:18:50 Reporter: Deception HQ

Just a quick note from all the crew at deception to thank all the hundreds of up and coming DJ's & MC's that replied to our posts for DJ's and MC's for our events. We were shocked at the massive response and it's going to take a little while to listen to all the demos but we hope to have the line up for our launch party sorted soon.

We were also pleasantly suprised at the massive ammount of talent out there and we have received some truely amazing demos. We've heard far to much talent to showcase it all at our first event but we hope to give everyone a go at future events.

We would also like to thank all you out there who aren't DJ's and MC's who have offered there help in other ways. We can't thank you enough and we feel very proude to be involved with the scene.

If you haven't had chance to send us your demo yet, e-mail deceptionuk@hotmail.com

Many Thanks

DJ's & MC's Wanted
2003-07-08 07:40:54 Reporter: Deception HQ

Deception is South East Englands newest hard dance event. Deception has been established by a small group of DJ's, MC's and ravers whom have come together with a common goal. That goal being to stage events of a standard never before seen and to use these events to showcase the very best new DJ and MC talent the scene has to offer alongside the big names.

We are currently looking for the very best new DJ and MC talent for our launch party event. So if you think you have what it takes (and hopefully can sell lots of tickets to your mates), e-mail deceptionuk@hotmail.com for details of where to send your demo. Watch this space for further information on our launch party night.

Twisted (Scotland) Update
2003-06-10 23:55:06 Reporter: Al Twisted

Firstly we must take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended, helped with promotion and of course played at the TWISTED vs. BRAINFIRE party @ The Vaults at Easter. For those that did not make it the night was a great success and the first of much collaboration with Brainfire. All the rooms were busy and the atmosphere brilliant. Once again thank you to everyone who made the party what it was!

We are the first to admit a few teething problems. 1) Bar prices 2) Attitude of some of the security and 3) Sound system in the Old Skool room. All three problems have been addressed. For our next party SLAVES TO THE RAVE we have been offered some more reasonable drink prices, a more friendly security team and we will be bringing in our own sound system for the old skool room which instead of opening at midnight will open at 10pm. More info below.

If you thought he was part of 'The Smart E's, Future Primitive, 2 Croozin', Kerve, Refuse & Resist, Sanity Collapses Here, Destroy & Demand, Def Wish, Loose Cutz, Cut Loose, The Trip, 2 Xperience', then you'd also be right.

We're talking the past studio engineer for Jimmy J, Brisk, Force & Evolution (before they became Force & Styles), Alk-E-D and DJ Ham, to name just a handful.

Okay, so what tunes has he been behind?

Probably around about 500 Breakbeat, Trance, Hardcore, Drum n Bass and Gabber tracks. The guy produced and engineered practically everything on Kniteforce, Remix Records, Knite Breed, Malice, Tin Phork, Strange Room, Influential, Dyne and Def Wish.

Where is he now?

He's back with a new label (KFA - KniteForce Again), which caters for all kinds of Hardcore, focusing mainly on the under-exposed Breakbeat Hardcore.

So what's the point of this news item?

THE CHASE: http://www.petitiononline.com/lunac/

Now ravers everywhere have come together to voice their opinions and add to this virtual petition which shows that they believe Luna C should be booked at the major Hardcore events. It seems that most people who see him play think he is quite possibly the most entertaining DJ on the circuit - and it's not like he's new talent.

Okay, even if you think it's a waste of effort and that he will never be booked at these events - Let's at least show our support. There's no harm in aiming high, is there?

So come on! Sign this in favour of our scene being respresented with the extra diversity that it deserves: http://www.petitiononline.com/lunac/

*fingers crossed*

Club North - Stoke

North returns to it's true home of hardcore!

After taking a long break (364 days to be precise) from North's original home "The Void" due to complications out of the promoter's power. I am pleased to say that the return on Dec 28th went down an absolute treat! It was the "bollox" mainly because of the awesome venue and quality sound system along with all the best techno DJ's Producer, Scorpio, Dolphin, Clarkee etc. And of course the ever up for it crowd at North (no competition!). Not forgetting the trance arena... they too truly had the place rocking with sets from Mark EG, Vortex and Sharkey.

North will be launching their next party at the Void on Friday 14th February 2003. Meanwhile you can catch North and Vibealite on Friday 24th January 2003 at the Emporium in Leicester.

Fubar's DJ Nocturnal to launch SMR Records:--

The fubar, Stirling, Scotland, old skool resident from back in the day DJ Nocturnal is to launch Manchester SMR Records and Dance FM Online project. Nocturnal was last quoted saying "Due to some problems with the customs and excise VAT Registration program and the continual aggronce of the Performing rights society we have had to delay the project. We didn't think it fair to our punters to launch over the new year, as there will be a whole host of other events ocurring. We have revised the launch date and will up and running from the 30th January. Bringing you hard-house, old skoool, trance and dance, basically dance on demand!!! So if you're ready for the hard flare we will se you there!!!"

HardDance.net Back On Air
2002-10-23 13:32:15 Reporter: Deviance
After nearly 3 months of being off air www.harddance.net are proud to be back with a better broadcast schedule, more DJ's and more shows!

Due to unforseen circumstances www.harddance.net was suspended for 3 months back in July 2002, the reasons for this were down to structural reorganisation of the shows, re-setting up of the studio and the development of a brand new website, tailored more to their users/listeners. Also they secured a brand new dedicated streaming service.

Now they're back - bigger and better than ever before!

HardDance.net now broadcasts 4 nights a week (Tuesday - Friday) from 8-11pm GMT. The shows are now broadcast with specific genres on each night. Whether you're in to your Hard House or Hard Trance, Hardcore or Old Skool or like a bit of rough meaning Gabba, they have something for everyone, always!
