Well I am now recovered after a nice day off work and here is my customary post-rave review:-)))) The day started at the Jacaranda where Kev had just taken delivery of some dex etc from Cakes. That was to be where I stayed for the next few hours whuile the rest of them went to meet Rich and Jo etc. We finally left Kevs place for the Pleasure Rooms worrying that we'd be a bit late for the start but no fear. The place didn't open till 11.00ish so we didn't miss a thing. Straight into the old skool arena for me and listen to the sounds of Lukozade B2B with EQ (I think). Good scratching and mixing and one to watch for in the future me thinks. I wasn't sure what was playing in the hardcore arena at this point but elected to stay in the old skool room for a while longer where they had a photo booth set up and a record shop in the corner (nice touch). Soapy was up in the hardcore arena and he played a good stomping set which was completely different from the stuff he played at the last Addicted and kept me stomping for the full hour. It was during this set that I whitnessed one of the most bizarre incidents I've ever seen at a rave. A geezer was merrily stomping away on the dancefloor when all of a sudden, some lad rugby tackles his legs away sending the stomper flat on his face!! A bit of a play wrestle errupted an inch from my face but it all fizzled out quite quickly (!). Quick stint at the meet-up where not many people showed up and then time for a good old stomp to Mr Uplift. He also played a wicked set full of pace and good hardcore, nice one. No time to stop now as Chrissy took the stage (feeling very nervous but for no reason) and played another storming set. She certainly mixes well for someone sooo nervous. After three solid hardcore stomping hours it was time to see Squirrel performing in the old skool arena. A great set with some well used classics got me stomping once again. By this stage I had smoked about 60 fags but it wasn't stoping me having a good old fashioned stompathon. Back to the hardcore arena for the last two hours saw Wizbit play a good selection of tunes I like alot :-) then awaiting Sy for the last set rumours started circulating that Sy couldn't make it!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Who would play the last hour?? Well up stepped Lukozade for possibly his biggest set and he did very well with some fantastic scratching, mixing and tune chosage. Alongside MC Storm the masses were treated to a storming last hour and topping it all was Here I am right near the end. Overall a brilliant night and a gfreat effort from the Addiction crew. They had merchandise stall, photo booth thingy, a record shop, UV backdrops and even lasers. Alot more effort was put into this event than the last Dreamscape even so they definately deserve a massive shout for putting the ravers first as it should be. The atmosphere was as good as it always is in the Pleasure Rooms with all the staff and security being there usual friendly selves. The attendance was good but not as good as it should have been. With no other major events going on in the south last Saturday I was expecting alot more people to turn up and the Addiction crew certainly deserved a larger crowd just for the ammount they all put into it. All the DJ's were as good as anyone else around and although alot of the tunes were played a few times it was nice to hear a broader selection of tunes than some of the big names might play. Top night!! Shouts out to Kev (mashed potato award for the night;-)), Sam, Chrissy (listen to my chuffing tape), Uplift (maybe i should send a tape to you instead?), Rich and Jo, Jo, Andrew, Chedda, Justin, Justin Vinyl, Bridie, Adidas Matt, Matt, MC Jam, Roo, MC Storm (nice one), Breaker, Breakers mashed mate, Snow, Cakes, Smithers, Conrad (did he catch his plane?) anyone else I met and a massive shout for all the Addiction crew for a top night.
