Well after being badly for the last few days I decided I would head off for Distruxhon on NYE so after spending all day trying to track down a ticket on the day I managed to get one. I actually went straight headed all night, which was a rarity, didn't want to drink as I was driving and I didn't; want any substances as the kid I was with is annoying at the best of times, even more so when your shitfaced. saying that though I like to go straight every now and then. makes the night kinda different. The night was at the Bath's Hall in Scunthorpe, a venue I had never been to before but I had been told good things about it. The line up was as follows. Sy, Unknown, Mark EG, MZone, Sharkey and the residents Hooley, Simms and Rush < I think that was the line up >. there was also a second room. MC Wise you had Marcus, JD walker, Space, Natz and also Beatz. Now the Baths Hall is basically and old swimming baths that has been transformed and its a pretty neat venue. Got there about 9.20 pm and Rush was just finishing off, the sound system was okay, nothing special but ok and the attendance was great. could have done with a few more people. After Rush came Simms who played some nice banging slower stuff. Now it must have been a dodgy system but in my view the mixing quality wasn't the best all night and the decks seemed to jump alot. After Simms came MZone who I thought was superb, quality toons and it was nice and bouncy. Then came Unknown, now I used to rate Unknown alot but I thought he was really poor. Played and old 96ish happy set which was ok but played the predictable toons. Discloand, Shooting Star, HoG. And it must have been just me but his scratching was awful. sounded way too loud and just didn't go. There were some nice visuals by the way ansd the stage set-up was nice. MC's near the crowd and the deejays at the back but in view, tried blaggin the VIP area but to no avail, bahhh. Up next stepped Mark EG. haha best bit of the night. the rolled him on stage in a cage and he was jumping about trying to break out of it. he storms out and runs straight to the crowd going mental. Fuckin excellent that was.. again another top set by him. the usual madness. the count down came and fireworks shot out everywhere, no live link up to other parties though as I think it said on the flyer, ahh well After Mark came Sharkey, who for me played the set of the night, just beating MZone. it was perfect timing as the crowd need a mood set to get down to. played some new stuff along with some old stuff and when he dropped Distonord I was going fuckin mental < toon of the year for me >. Now I could Swear Sy was on the flyer but no sign of him at all, which was a shame really as there had been only one happy set by Unknown which wasn't as good as he could do. so up stepped Hooley for 30 mins and then Topgroove who played some classics, loads of old shoop, evolution stuff. all in all a top night. think I will be going again as that was the first time in ages I have been to a Distruxhon. Now the night finished at 3am and the ticket price was £40, however there was an after party which cost an extra ten pounds, to be honest I think that should have been included in the ticket price. however went along to that. in a pub in the middle of nowhere. haha a small function room with a full rig set up, it was pretty cool. again most of the people went and some good sets inc. one from the old man himself Paul-O. Tried to blag a set but to no avail. hung around till about 6am and then left for home feeling absolutely shagged. damn cold and flu virus thing. A different NYE for me but as good one all the same. Big shouts to Mr O for a top set , Beatz for showing me the way to the after party and for generally being a top bloke, same to Marcus. and also to gold old Ardee and his gang. hahaha his brother talks some right shite when he's off his box, well funny it is, ohh yeah and also to the people that were there.
