United States of Hardcore

Future Dance 25th-Mar-2000

A good night, things looked good from the moment we all started meeting up at Waterloo, and by the time everyone was at Kings Cross for the illusive Bus there must have been most of the USH crew together with a lot of friendly excited ravers. At the venue we were greeted with friendly security, and a rather funny man in a costume. Saying ‘alright’ to the doorman searching me, he said have a good night and into the venue we went. Already there were people congregating near the Cloakroom, all excited and saying how good the venue was. Entering into the first room, which played Hard House / trance I could see the promoter’s had worked hard on décor , walking through to the Second room (very large chillout) the decorations were even more impressive, with star’s, planet’s etc all over the walls and roof. At this point the distinctive banging sounds from the Hardcore room could be heard.. entering it there were already a lot of people, all dancing mad and the atmosphere already really good.

Everyone was really up for it, which is what made it such a good night. Everyone knew this was something brand new, and everyone seemed to be on exactly the same level. Had a chat with Vibes in the toilet for a while, he was chatting about how these nights were the future of the scene, and made a point about saying how us raver’s arnt stupid and we don’t want to go to the same venue’s week in, week out. He’s right, but I wonder what he thinks about having the same DJ’s Year in, Year out 

There were also a number of people there from the old labyrinth crew at dalston/roseberrys who had stopped raving but came to see what it’s like, nice to see them after so much time.

Didn’t think much of the “live PA” from Vicky. Especially that boyzone tune, infact it was so crap I left. I found it quiet funny watching these Go Mental kiddies and Jonny using eletric keyboards standing there pressing their once finger pre-programmed chord sequences, HEH

Unfortunately we had to leave early, but I must say the biggest thanks to the following people for all of their concern, help and friendliness: Riche & Jo, Andrew & Raverjo, Sarah, Tina and Bridie.

The only thing I can complain about was the lack of any Paramedics on site. I was told this was a condition of all night venues? Having said that, the First-Aider was very helpful, but she was pretty restricted of administrating any drugs (such as Insulin)

The security were very friendly, and professional. They dealt with an ‘incident’ in the club very well, which could have turned violent. So yes. Im very impressed.

I was having a chat to the Taxi man on our journey home, and he said that the owner’s of the venue were putting in “a lot” of money to make this a decent venue. There are actually three warehouse’s all together, along with space for a funfair, which they are hiring for another event there, so maybe go mental will do this soon ?

Well, hello to the following people: Paul & Carol, Andrew & Raverjo, Riche & Jo, Bridie & Justin, Stuart & Liz, Madraver & Boyfriend, Matt & Girlfriend, Caine, Sarah, Dimi, Scott, John, Ardee, Slammin Sam, Happy Bounce, Kevin, Chedda, Lukeozade, Conrad & Mr Retro. + others I may have forgotton:)
