United States of Hardcore

Atomic Jam 14th-Oct-2000

OMG! It's so frustrating trying to describe a night that was so good I couldn't even possibly communicate a half of it's amazingness. First, the venue, huge! Very high roof, and big enough to be packed out with up for it mentalists, but never got too hot. Security were firm but fair (well, peter and andrew may disagree!), all very professional. And the music! Those who know me also know of my handicap in dancing to hard house / slow techno, ie. I can't without looking like an octopus having a seisure. Well, that hasn't changed, but I've started enjoying it! The music, although not hardcore, was inspiring, and slow enough to allow me to dance for ten times as long as I can to hardcore without feeling ill. I was a bit dubious about the atmosphere, having the idea that any rave that wasn't hardcore-related would be a bit moody and serious... How wrong was I! Although it didn't reach the hugging-strangers stage, I still met loads of wonderful people, all having a great time, and, even if you didn't talk to everyone, you still knew they were alright, and could smile around freely :ŹD To anyone thinking about going; GO!!!! You will NOT be sorry, (even if you have to endure a 3 1/2 hour train journey home after!) it is guaranteed to be a good night. Love to Andrew, Peter and Chedda who all made the pilgrimage, esp. to peter for hectoring me into going in the first place. Can't wait for the next one!
