United States of Hardcore

Slammin' Vinyl 11th-Nov-2000

Got to the B&Q carpark around 9ish and met lots of happy ushers in the carpark, everyone seemed well up for it. In the meantime I double dropped two pills, well good they were, called Proplus (ever heard of them?), and headed off to the venue.

The queue was massive, so it was a good job I was in the short queue. But still we had to wait for ages before being allowed in, by which time I was turning blue.

I got just as Energy was playing, dunno who he played to coz i was one of the first in and there was hardly anyone there!

Anywayz, basically I enjoyed every single set from start to finish. I thought Sarge and the other hard house dj's played well and it fitted in well with the hardcore. There were some cheesy tunes being played during the nite but I enjoyed it, and it wasn't as if they were being played all nite. The old skool room, was tiny but stomping, and talk about a bouncy floor! Since it was so packed I had to make do with jumping up and down on the spot, which was fine coz i was starting to get a bit knackered by this time.

3AM meetup time, went to the burger van, met a few people and waffled for a bit, watched someone bungee jump and went back inside since it was so warm outside.

I was in the 'Chillout' for a bit, which should be renamed the 'Freezer', and found that there was hardly anything to sit on. Looked at the Rollers at some point, but couldn't be bothered with queing up and I was havin a great time in the sanktury anywayz. Scott Brown played a brilliant set, especially the last few tunes. By the end of the nite I wished there were a couple more hours to rave on coz I still had energy to dance. Can't wait for the next big rave now! :P

Bad points: 1)Queues were an absolute disgrace. Waiting 2hrs at the end of the nite to get your coat doesn't make up for having to wait 2hrs to get inside the venue at the beginning. 2)Sound system was a bit funny, couldn't really hear it at the back or round the sides or most places where there was room to dance. Could do with having a few speakers facing the walls.

Respect to everyone I met :)
