United States of Hardcore
Right, got there at 10.30 to be confronted with the biggest queue I've seen in years. Thats not neccesarily a bad thing though. A big queue means a packed rave, which is what I like. However after 1 and a half hours I was still not in. I was getting pretty pissed off and so were most people, although watching the bungee junp kept us a little amused. It was nice to be back at the sanctuary, for what is a proper rave in my view. I love the big events and this looked like it was going to be rammed. Security were being idiots telling us to queue in single file, which is absolutely pointless. Anyway after getting in without a search(which is what they did at the last skelter I went to-lost in music) I was happy to meet up with the girls I was with , as they had gone in the girls queue and had already been in for 1 and a half hours. Quickly went to put our coats away, and jumped straight to the front of the queue, forget waiting any longer! Then decided to go to the drum and bass room..had to queue up to get in which was stupid cause it wasn't even full inside. Got in to find a TOP CLASS production. Amazing laser and light display and good sound system. Had a little dance for an hour or so, caught the end of Frost's set and most of Grooveriders, which was somewhat boring. I would expect Grooverider to play a better selection that he did. Skibadee was getting the crowd hyped up as he always did. After this we went to the sanctuary which was RAMMED. Nice to see the Hardcore massive is still in full force. Didnt seem like hardcore being played to me though, more like hard house or something. Went up to the oldskool room...too hot ...but it was going off in there...nice atmosphere.... The next few hours, we went in and out of sanctuary, wanting to go to rollers, but not bothering queuing in the massive queue in the cold. FUCK THAT. My mate went on the bungee...nutter...spent most of the night in the oldskool room....bumped into a few old friends.... At about 4 we went back to the rollers as there was no queue. MC dett was giving it some, and the vibes were topclass inside. Left at 5.30 to avoid the massive cloak room queue, although there still was a massive cloak room queue!! Altogether a good night with some down sides. Wicked to be back at the sanctuary! Firstly slammin need to sort out the security and organisation of queues. Secondly I think they should put oldskool in the room where the garage was. Finally 10 till 6 is not long enough at the sanctuary cause it takes as long for people to get in......next time I would like to see a 8 till 6 event....no less... Shouts to all the USH crew who I again failed to meet....sorry people ...by the time I got in it was after the 12 meet-up and at 3 I was spangled!!!!!!!!!! If anyone reading this is deciding weather to go....yes do go, but not if it starts at 10....the sanctuary has been holding raves since 1991. It has seen every form of rave music pass through its doors....it's an experience and is the only BIG rave left in the country....I'm sure Slammin will sort out the problems for the next one.
