“THE REVOLUTION IS AT THE ADELPHI” That is the sentence that has been on every ones lips that month since the big announcement that Paul and Ian (Promoters) had finalised a deal with the Adelphi to hold Revolution their. Anticipation was high, and so it should have been the Adelphi was the club that in most Peoples minds helped Uprising take off. (Uprising is the former event that the the Revolution promoters ran) After a couple of drinks in the city centre we jumped in a taxi straight down to the Club. When we arrived it was only 8.15pm and the cue had already formed nicely as expected. As I entered at 9pm when security started letting people in, we hung our coats up and proceeded to the main arena (and only arena) of the Adelphi where all the action was. As I entered the room all the memories of the first year of my raving life came about in my head. The big stage was still their and the place hadnt really changed apart from the DJ box had moved from the stage to a box above the entrance over looking the dance floor, and the chill out settee had been replaced by a wall to put your drinks on! The tunes were banging from the moment I entered the arena with the first DJ M-Zone playing a real hard Techno set with a lot of the foreign labelled stuff he usually drops such labels as Fog Areaalong with a few of his own up coming stuff. This for me was one of the two best sets of the night as I`ve been really getting into the Hard Trance and Techno as of late, So it would have been perfect for myself to have heard this a little later on, It was quite a surprise to see a man of M-Zone`s talent playing the first hour at a night such as Revolution. The next DJ up was C J Glover who obviously by playing a Hard Trance set was obliging with the new music policy of Harder sets rather than the Happy Hardcore type of stuff that the promoters have been letting get away with. Now by the time the next DJ was up the club was getting really packed so I decided to go and have a look for some friends and to see if any old faces had turned up namely the old Adelphi crew while the Spinner was manning the turntables. And like C J Glover it was obvious that he had adjusted his playing style a little to suit the new Policy throwing a lot of Bouncy Hardcore tunes and a few Freeform tracks which went down pretty well with the crowd filling the dance floor to its capacity and getting them ready for the next DJ…Energy! Talking to Energy earlier in the days he had let me know that 70% of his tunes tonight were all Dub plates that had just been finished in the past couple of weeks, So knowing that we were in for a treat that hour I decided to take to the dance floor myself. Energy as usual likes to build the crowd starting slow and working them into a frenzy so what better way than to spin one of the newest tunes from the Nu- Energy record label “Renagade” this worked well for the crowd as he played virtually all new stuff including some popular ones like “Take Me Up” remix andd the never to be released “Sound Assassins” This along with M-Zones was definitely the best of the night! After the set Topgroove was up playing all the crowd favourites that he himself has made famous namely “Pentium” and a good selection of new stuff also.At this time I went to say a farewell to Energy and Vinny “The Vinstra”(The mad dancer from down south) Some new vinyl and some flyers to hand out at the end of the night. Now one thing about the night that may have put a damper on it for some people was the fiasco in the cloak room where one stupid employee (Of the club)decided not to put the tickets on the coats at the beginning of the night hence not knowing what coat to give who Luckly I decided to get my own and my girlfriends coat at forty minutes before the crush and night was due to finish but over 6-700 people were not so lucky waiting over one and a half hours after the event to get their coats. Now don’t please let this put you off coming next time I personally called Adelphi about it (Like a complaining oldd man who aint got nothing better to do) And they assure this guy has been replaced by a competent replacement. Now, just to let you all know what ever you may have heard Revolution are not really changing that much. We are still gonna hear top quality hardcore from the likes of Brisk, Scott Brown, Sharkey & Energy which is still the same as what Revolution has been from when it first started back in February, Its just we will here a bit more of a variety with regular harder names like M-Zone and Mark EG and newer ones such as CJ BOLLAND showing us a lot more different styles of music, lesser the Cheese (E.g. Vibes etc.) Which again is still the same as it always has been. As for the clubs dress policy, now come on not been able to wear a baseball cap is not gonna kill you, and as for no vests well I don’t like bumping into someone’s bear back head first while their covered in sweat anyway! Revolution is not letting down its crowd its just broadening its horizons to appeal to more people and to show case a lot more talent. There are gonna be some very special guest DJs in the months to come so just wait and see Have they let us down yet!……….No, I didn’t think so!
