Finishing work at 8pm, and puking all day in the loo I figured I wasn’t in any fit state at all to go out clubbing, but tonight was not just any night because Revolution was back in full effect at the Adelphi club. Arriving at about 9.30pm due to my late working hours and missing one fucking tram I got to the club to find no cue! I realised that the reason for this was because the night had started an hour earlier than stated Nether the less I entered with the intention of meeting up with mates and checking out the line up order. Apparently DJ Majestik played the first hour which by a lot of friends and other peoples response went down pretty well even though he started at 8 and the club didn’t start letting people in until 8.45. So in the words of my friend Martin Schofield “it was nice hard & Pumping Freeform set, with lots of Dark sounds and new tunes including his own track that he has recently written THE EVE OF WAR. “ As always the settings were the usual drapes hanging from the ceiling, Excellent lighting. And a few added extras like Dreamcast computer pods. Just a few things I thought that let the night down a little I thought. One was of the not so good turn out but hey, these things happen I guess as usual its because of the Christmas season and people do have presents to by along with saving money for new year etc. So of course at this time of year it is expected. Secondly I felt that the sound system was a little to loud because it sounded really distorted and crackley as a few ravers and DJs , seemed to mention. And lastly, even though I do know the reason for this, with Spinner not being able to make his playing time, And all other DJs confirmed and appointed to their playing time. People seemed a little upset to not hear Majestik (or Spinner ) at a later time in the night. But again this is no put down as I do know the real reason for this being Majestik was rushed in at the last minute and Spinner couldn’t have been booked later because all the other DJs could only play the time they were given. Anyway now back to the night in general. The second DJ up was former resident and Uprising legend Paul- O. I just managed to catch the last 20 minutes of his set which seemed to get a few people dancing to his Hard House/ NRG tunes. Very nice and very different which was good to see that he is more versatile than people think he is. Next up 10pm -11pm was C J Glover who again as at the first Revolution, Kept to the new music policy and went for a Commercial Hard Trance/ Hard House set which got the crowd going really well, just as it seemed that the club was filling up a little too. His tune selection was pretty good also Playing Nice Dark Tracks with Scary samples minus cheesy vocal. Such as “Shhh..Listen” By Jonah. This warmed the people up for the next DJ nicely. DJ Brisk, Who played a thumping Bouncy House set with many of his own tracks such as “Cyber Drive” and “Hoover Time” along with others such as “Artimesia” by bits & Pieces. A nice banging set, but for me it didn’t sound very original. Hard house can be very dated now days due to so much being released every week so it seemed that he didn’t play the latest stuff. Second to last set for the night was the second and final resident to play that night DJ Topgroove who played his usual dosage of Hard and Progressive Trance. Average tunes but he is a crowd favourite so of course the dance floor was full. Last hour of the night came from the one and only DJ Sharkey who immediately got the dance floor full as per usual. And from the smile on everyone’s face it was what they had all been waiting for all night as it seemed that everyone minus about 15 people in the club had started dancing even I myself didn’t want to miss a stomp to this. Feeling badly or not. And I had especially saved myself for this hour having just a couple of bears and a pint of Orange so not to churn my stomach to much for when I started dancing (FUCKNIG LIGHT WIEGHT! I hear you all shout, Well have pity I’m fucking badly you tarts!) Sharkey as usual rocked with all the new tunes due out from The Nu- Energy label collective such as “Bad Ass” (Fucking mad tune) “Turn Up The Heat.” And “Visions Of infinity.” Along with some favourites like “Hooligans vol. 5 (Music So Wonderful remix) “See the Stars.” And playing out 15 minutes past closing time finishing with “The Awakening.” Sharkey never stops amazing me. And for myself and I’m sure a lot of others was the best set of the night. Also, over the past few weeks I have been chatting to Sharkey and from what he has told me, You can expect some great things next year from himself and his colleagues musically so WATCH THIS SPACE! Shouts Going out to…..Scott Majestik Who obviously by almost falling into the urinal and shouting for his mother (in a way as to say `come and clean this up`) Was the most pissed up person in the club. Scott Clark. Martin Spaced. Chedda. Steph. Who could not make it. Kleiny & Tracey. Robby. J. & Max. John & Emma. Cambell. Fizz & Dave. And that fellow who said he liked my reviews! Cheers! Lee UHF
