Due to last minute transport problems we had to change our new year plans fast so it seemed the only rave we could attend that was close enough to home was Dizstruxshon in Doncaster. Arriving a little late after picking some one up and getting lost doing it. We arrived a Eden late half way threw Vibes set and as you would guess it was a full on girly Cheese set playing the likes of “Forever Autumn.” And “Techno Wonderland.” While been backed up on the mic by M. C. Lively. Now one thing as usual about Vibes I put across is that it amazes me that people still actually book him as he has been playing the same old tired tunes for about 3 years now. But whenever I do ask a promoter this question, The reply I get is. “ People still ask for him.” Which really is quite shocking to me but as proof everyone in the club all seemed to be dancing to the Vibes & Lively show even in the first hour. Next to man the decks was the first of the 4 Dizstruxshon residents. DJ Simz. Who played the exact same tunes as he always does ranging in Hard House like “9 Bar.” (Kaktai records) and old School Trance from such labels as Bonzai records. Now don’t get me wrong Simz does throw a good set with some nice tunes which are mixed top an absolute perfection but I feel the reason for this is that it seems I have only ever heard him play maybe 20 different records ever. So now I don’t listen to his set as it seems like I have heard it a million times. Next was DJ Topgroove, Who had the job of leading us into the new year as only he could with some nice old and new Trance, that totally filled the dance floor to its capacity and easily ran away with the best set of the night. Even I decided to get up and have a stomp along to some of my favourites like “Are am eye.” “Halloween part 1.” And finishing with a slightly pitched up original “Pentium.” Before leading the countdown to the year. 2001. Oddly though the crowd including myself took to the laser that projected the time on a giant balloon in the club for the count down. But as we reached the end of the count the MC decided to start it again seemingly confusing everyone on drugs who just started screaming and shouting at the clock oh well at least I managed to not get distracted and keep my cheers on time. After the party poppers and cheering which lasted a whole 5 minutes. (Wow) DJ M- Zone took to the decks to bring on some uplifting and hard Euro Trance. Which went down an absolute storm for myself but I did hear a few complaints from people wanting to hear a Hardcore set on the years eve. Sy hit the decks next pulling off a terrific set with some nice non cheesy Hardcore to start off throwing in some Freeform like “Devastator Remix.” And “Pilgrim.” And then finishing off his set with some nice scratching and a few old school tracks like “Ice Cold.” This was followed up by last DJ of the night. The fourth, and final resident, Hooley. Playing his usual blend of mad mixing to Hard and Bouncy House such new tracks as “The Gimp.” And “Iceman.” And some favourites like “Bass Keep Jumpin” A Good night but to me really had something lacking it seemed like the management of Dizstruxshon didn’t give anything special to mark the occasion, It just seemed like the same old Dizstruxshon at Eden with the same old tired line up and the same old tunes. Some people may say it’s the same every time but others say that the numbers are so I guess it’s a case of if it is not broken do not fix it. But I am sure that if Dizstruxshon gave something new and showcased some new DJs then they would double the punters from just the regular bunch of people, I know for a fact that I would go more if they had something different. As for the club as always it does look nice with its expensive laser. Big back drops and friendly bar staff and security. But still seems a bit to small for a rave. And even smaller that night because the chill out area was shut due to the cold weather. Shouts to. Stephanie. Mad Mick. Klieny. Tracey. Cambell. Brian Topgroove. Everyone else I met and didn’t to.
