Well the return of Helter Skelter, couldn't miss this one could I ! Never been to Bowlers before and I'd heard a few bad reports, namely the cars being broken into, however as my mate was doing the driving I neglected to mention this fact to him. After surviving the freak weather conditions and somewhat complex motorway network in the area we arrived at about 10 to 9. First things first I had to ask the security which queue I should be in and to my surprise the chap was both polite and helpful, a bit different to the scum at The Sanctuary that I'm used to. half an hour in the queue and we were in, again the security doing the searches were jolly pleasant fellows. Well I thought nothing could match the Sanctuary and how wrong I was, Bowlers is a fantastic venue. most notably was the space, I was informed that the event was sold out, and assuming this was the case it was great not to be packed in like sardines, it was nice and full but we all had plenty of room to dance. the only downside was the lack of a decent chillout area and the cloakroom filled up too early. I will not go into the DJ's in too much detail as we all like our own thing, to be fair though I didn't hang around in the Hard House or Garage arenas as its not my scene. I had the pleasure of listening to Force and Styles, Sy, Rat-Pack, Dougal, Vibes, Scott Brown and a bit of Hixxy, ( I think ! ). Every DJ I heard got the place rockin' and played an awesome set, I have not had a night as good as that in many years, and I haven't missed a lot. to pick out the best I would say Sy, my personal favourite anyway, shame about total power loss for about 5 minutes in the middle of his set though, but in the words of MC Storm 'We're too fuckin' hardcore for the sound system'. I was looking forward to this night ever since Charlie B said 'Helter Skelter are coming back, check fuckin' that' at Slammin last November, and I was not disappointed. I will definitely be visiting Bowlers again, the car was in one piece when we came out by the way! It's good to have you back Helter Skelter, God it's good to have you back.
