United States of Hardcore

Moondance @ The Hippodrome 6th-Jul-2001

Moondance's usual home of the Camden Palace or Bagley's had been changed to a venue that hasn't been used for raves in a while, the Hippodrome in London's Leicester Square. Once inside the venue I was greeted with something that almost reminded me of a club in a typical Holiday resort. Mirrors surrounded the walls, dance floor in the middle, and balcony round the top. Quite Nice. For the first hour and a bit, the DJ was playing old house and early hardcore from 89-90. Nice mellow start to the evening although the place was already packed and the crowd were well up for it.

Then on came....eeerr....someone famous on to the decks...cant remember who...dropped "31 seconds"...place went nuts..... Lasers and full lighting came on for first time in the night as the tune dropped...and the whole place exploded. NEXT 2 hours the place went nuts. then there was a P.A from Baby D...place went nuts again....then there was more hardcore and jungle...and the place just kept going nuts.

Overall this was a f*ckin wicked night. The sound and lighting at the Hippodrome makes Camden palace look shit. The music was spot on. A nice mix of oldskool hardcore and jungle anthems and less well known tunes. And the people were wicked too....people you'd normally expect to be moody and not dancing were havin it with everyone else. Go to the next one and I hear there should be one in September. BIG UP> :):):):)
