I missed the last event here so was really looking forward to this one, Pandemonium Reunion Party at the Concept. As usual the little club had a BIG line up, Sy, Lomas, Ratty, Daz Willot & Foxy, Rat Pack and Stu Allen. Entrance was £11 members and £13 non, a quid more than usual but there was an extra room. Got there a bit later than usual as I was working late, but we were still in for about 21.30. Safe security and door staff, again ! It's nice not to be abused on your way in, and no queue either ! Concept always starts off slow, it takes an age to fill up, we heard the end of Daz and Foxy's set, both play a good mix of old Skool and just as we'd got our drinks Lomas started, and fuck me he started alright ! Dropped some serious techno that really upset the Mrs, she hates it, however me and the rest of the place loved it and he really started to get people going, this was a much harder set than you would usually hear at this place but it was nice to have a change, you can only play so many old Skool tunes before it gets repetative. Unfortunately my memory of the rest of the night is a little hazy, can't think why. But next up was Ratty, I know he played a good old Skool set and he was followed by Sy who did some awesome scratchin' over Ratty's last record. Concept usually fills up at about 11.00, probably due to the local pubs kicking out. So Sy got the best set of the night I think, lots of class old skool with a couple of my favourite HHC choons, namely 'Now Is The Time' and 'Space Oddesy'. The place was rocking all the way through his set, just like a mini Bowlers ! Next up were Rat Pack who played what they always play ! And finally Stu Allen who played yet more Old Skool to a dying crowd. Good lighting and System as usual and an excellent night was had by most I think. Oh by the way there was a downstairs room, Old vs Nu Skool, but it was empty every time I wandered down there, well not completely, there was a DJ and a Bar Tender ! This was the second night Concept had done this and both times it was a bit of a flop, how about some pumping hard house (can't believe I said that !) or techno down there Dave ? Trouble with Concept is it seems to be 50% Ravers and 50% Beer Monsters and it creates a funny atmosphere at times, so come on Ravers get your ass to Concept Club and meet up with the old Kinetic Crew in Newcastle under Lyme near Stoke. Promoters ALWAYS put on a wicked line up, it's a great little club, Security are safe and the entrance fee has just gone down to £8 and £10. No excuse ! Respect to Dave B for a great night, and shouts to Helen, Anthony, Julie, Allen, all the Old Kinetic and Diehard Crew and everyone we've lost along the way, oh and my wife Clair.
