United States of Hardcore

United Dance - Bagleys 7th-Sep-2001

What can I say! Just a wicked night, I saw no trouble, heard there was a couple of pushes and shoves but nothing serious.

Met Mad Man at Reading station and not before long we were on a train to Paddington. Saw no one at Paddington so we went to Kings Cross but we waited ages and no one we knew came ! Finally DJ Storm turned up and then he went. Then we saw Grob Le Frog who was waiting for Mupster, who turned up about 10 mins later. We went to the pub just down the road waiting for Marshy, who turned up and we consumed a iron bru red square and I smoked a cigar and me, Mad Man and Marhsy decided to head on down to Bagleys. In the queue Dairymilk and Ginge man turned up and the so did some others.

I was quite relived as everyone was telling me how bad the security was, but all i got was a quick pat down, no frisking, and I had to wait for Mad Man and Marshy who were telling me the bad things before, and it was them who had to take there shoes off and everything! hahahahaha!

Hardcore room was good, although I think Smiley got to much mic time and Whizzkid didn't seem up to standard. When he tried going fast he went out of time with the tracks a lot. It was also the first time I had heard Marley and I thought he was good. It was a shame Sharkey wasn't there as I was looking forward to his set, but Dougal was there instead and I must say cheese was down to a minimum, plus if some cheese came on everyone loved it anyway =D. The rest of the dj's in the hardcore were good, I was a bit disappointed in Scott Brown. I was hoping he was going to play a bouncy set instead of nu style. He started with some wicked stuff like 'Lower level' so I was hoping, but then the nu style came in and I'm afraid that stuff aint for me.

Old skool room was wicked, best set in there was deffo Kenny Ken who got the whole room fucking packed. Charlie B mc'd and I must say he was pretty good, although it was funny hearing him go booooooo! Ratpack were also wicked, made my dream come true to sing to 'Searchin for my rizla' for the first time, but after that 'Sweet harmony' came on as usual, so I was bored ! Vibes seemed to clear the room, which was weird as I thought he played some wicked tracks so I was in there for a while.

DnB room. Well what can I say, I have listened to dnb forever and I really liked listening to the mcs on tapes I have got, so when I walked in there to hear Fearless going mental it was amazing. After that I went back to hardcore, but Marshy wanted to go to the hard house room, so we went into the dnb room again and f**king hell, Foxy and Fatman D were ripping it up! Came back from the hardhouse and Skibba and Shabba was also there and then Dett turned up, so these 5 legends on the mic were absolutely having it on the stage and they were all wicked.

You know how it is, by morning all I wanted to do was be in bed, but we had to wait ages for the underground to open and then we had to make a detour as there was no underground from Kings Cross to Paddington! bah!

Got home at 9 and collapsed and passed out till 5!!

I also thought Bagleys was a wicked venue!

Shouts out to: Marshy (pro plus captain), Mad Man and Phick (base in the place London), Criss-ee, Dairymilk and Gingerman, Mupster and his mates, Grob le frog, Snow, Wotsee and everyone else I said ello to!
