United States of Hardcore
When some promoters tell you how great their party's going to be you take it with a pinch of salt. While with Future Dance there is a song that describes them better than anything else, it goes, "Nobody does it better" Make no mistakes THIS WAS THE PARTY OF THE YEAR! And when I think back to how good their last party at Bagleys was that is no mean feat, and knowing the boys at Wax we ain't seen nothing yet. Now I know Kaos hasn't always been the most popular man in the Hardcore scene with his happiest of happy sounds but when Hardcore needed a hero it found a man more than capable and a man who deserves nothing less than the upmost respect and anyone who ever doubted his mixing or producing talents or his love of hardcore has been proved well and truely wrong. This was a night that left everyone "Happy To Be Hardcore". I don't think there was a single person who didn't have the time of their lives and that includes all the DJ's and MC's who were grinning like Chershire Cats as they rocked to the max. Now I'm not exactly known for my dancing but I just could not stop, every DJ had me transfixed, I was in a trance and I just could not escape the dancefloor, (I must have burnt off a fair few calories!) When that happens you know it's been a great night. As soon as I had got into Bagleys I knew it was going to be a wicked party, the doors were only just open but the athmosphere was already electric. The night kicked off with Menis and Dair and when you've got two people who have travelled all the way from Australlia to entertain you the least you owe then is the respect to give em a listen, and boy was I glad I did. If you like your Hardcore to be hard, and I think it defeats the object if it isn't, this is what these boys gave you. They got me on the dancefloor and then there was no stopping me. Next up were Hixxy and UFO. Hixxy is a DJ who comes with a satisfaction garentee, and as usual tonight was another top class set playing the sounds of the Raver Baby. I have NEVER heard a bad set from him, and if the past is anything to go by I don't think I ever will. Brisk and Ham were next up spinning what started as quite a classic Next Gen set before becoming more up to date. A very enjoyable time. During Brisk and Ham was one of the Highlights of the night, a most bizzarre thing to witness at a rave (or anywhere else for that matter) the Emperess Stah. Now this was a young lady who seemed to enjoy self mutilation, I always thought knitting needles were for knitting, but no, I was wrong they are also perfect to stick though your body. I don't think I'll be witnessing anything like that again! I later spoke to Miss Stah and asked her how she realised she could do that, she told me I didn't want to know and that she didn't know. She also said that it doesn't hurt but mad people like her always say that!! Marc Smith and Sharkey kept the party rocked hard with what can only be described as a Proper HARDcore set. It was Marc Smith's return to the hardcore sounds and I never heard him play before and I was loving it. Lastly Mr Kaos and Mr Energy. Just a year ago you would never have been able to have these two playing back to back but it's amazing how much things have changed in a year. This was the set of the night. Loads of new tunes were played and all the tunes were class. Hardcore on the way back up to the top. There was only one complaint I heard about the night, one guy told me that it was "Out of order to have birds dressed like that here!" Pointing at the merchandise stall (but what can you do!?) The only downsides I felt there was about the night were:- 1 - It had to end 2 - The only thing FD misses is a "Happy" set 3 - Slammin in November hasn't got a hope in hell of coming close. Massive thanx go to Kaos, Ethos and all the Wax City / Future Dance Kru, all DJ's MC's, the wicked up for it crowd and Peachy, you know the score Shouts going out to each and every one of ya.
