Its was Easter Sunday, the queen mum was dead, So what would be the right thing to do? An all day rave at Camden Palace innit! "Laboratory" had been put together by Lab4(With a little help from the Frantic boys) With the Line-up hand picked by them. Knowing that Lab4 were in charge I knew I was in for a good day. After waking up at 11:30 not realising the clocks had gone forward and it was really 12:30. I started to get my arse in gear as the event had already started! Soon hopped on the train and tube and I was from Milton Keynes to Camden Palace in just over an hour. There was a small queue and after 10 min we were in. This was the 2nd time I had ever been the Camden Palace. The first time was at a stag do about 5 years ago.It was an R+B/Hip-hop night. Thing were slightly different this time round. If you have never been to Camden you should cheek it out. Its a old Theatre. The DJ both is on the stage. With a main dance floor just below the main stage. Then there's a about 5 levels going up and up, With top one right in the roof top of the venue. It really does look the don. When your on the dance floor you can see people having it all over the venue from top to bottom. Cheek out the Pics from the event in the gallery and you will see what I mean. On to the Music, When I got in I was greeted to the sounds of Sterling Moss. Only one way to describe this set, HARD! It really was hard, not far off Nu Style at times. One tune he played sounded like someone puking up with a heavy kick and some dirty acid lines going on. Nice! Next on was lab4.With a Special extended Live PA playing just requested tunes they had received on their web site over the last few weeks. This is the 4th time ive seen them now. They really are something special. They look like 2 mad heavy metal dudes, With Long hair shaven at the side, Tattoos, Piercing, all done out in leather. Nutters! They started there PA with a hip-hop break beat style tune, everyone was brocking away then came in lab 4 sound I know and love. Highlight of their PA for me was when they played "Concept of Love" Followed by one of their new tunes, It got a huge powerful vocal in it and its amazing.I really need to find out what this one is called. They finished with Reformations 2 at about 170 bpm. Everyone was going mad , including me. They really are something else and by far the best thing happening in the hard dance seen at the moment. Next up was Yoji Biomehanika, Freshly imported from Japan. Ive got a tune of his that he did with Scot Project So I sort of knew what was coming. He Started of really Dark and Evil and got more uplifting as he went on. A real varied set too. Playing tunes from himself to Scott project to lab 4 to some tune Ferry Corsten always plays. He even dropped ANGY DEE - La Pequenita. The Salsa break down went down a storm. Top set! Last set was saved for Phil Reynolds. Phil Reynolds is the DJ Vibes of the hard house world.Uplifting and everyone loves him, Only real difference is Phil Reynolds is actually good :) Phil played his trademark set. Uplifting to the max. A little too uplifting for me,Im sorry playing 5 real uplifting tunes in a row it does tend to get a bit boring. But on the whole I enjoyed his set, dancing right to the end and when he dropped K90 - Red Snapper I was hungry for some more tunage and gutted the day was over. All in all another wicked event, almost as good as Mainframe the week before. And it being during the day really worked.Once you were inside the venue you couldn't tell the difference.It was nice coming out after and being able go home and sleep without a losing the next day. Also I really like the longer sets 90 min sets are so much better then 60 min, The DJ can take you a bit more of a journey.
