After the events of TIMETunnel 1, I was amazed at how relaxed the Security staff was. It seemed like the owner of the club had recruited members of staff who loved Hardcore. There were several times throughout the night when I saw the bouncer’s bopping their heads to the sounds of the hardcore beat! They were even gracing the hardcore arena throughout the night and thoroughly enjoying themselves. As usual, the impressive décor by HEVhog added to the whole night. If you have ever been the Pl@tform 5 then you will know that it is a very underground club which definitely need a make over in places! This adds to the whole atmosphere of the night though. If there had been more ravers there then I think it would have been a top class night which would compete well with the more established smaller raves. There were only two gripes that I had with the club and they were that it was way too hot in the 2 arenas and that there was only one bar open. With regards to the heating, I was told that the train station controlled it and that the only thing the manager could do was to open windows. While this worked slightly, I still felt that it was a bit too warm. I could foresee problems with this should the night become busier in the future. The only bar which was open was the one in the smaller arena (HardHouse / Old Skool) Personally, I think that if both bars had been open then this would have made more people stay in the Hardcore arena. All in all, I think the club has a lot of potential for future hardcore nights. One of the major things about the club though has to be its location. The club is situated out of the city centre, which means that it is not going to draw in a crowd from the street! With the right promoting, I think people could be made aware of the club and the top class hardcore night, which is to be run monthly. As it is a small venue, the lightening could be improved but I was amazed that they had a laser which created the whole hardcore vibe. With that, the smoke machine and the strobe in the main arena, I was quite impressed. I couldn’t say the same for the smaller arena; this did not seem to have any lighting effects. If it did, I was not that brilliant, as I didn’t notice it! With regards to the sound system, this was brilliant, although at some points the hardcore did drown out the HardHouse in the other arena. DJ and MC wise, this was all excellent. The DJ’s playing were very talented and got everyone jumping in both arenas. As I spent most of my time in the hardcore arena, I can’t comment on the HardHouse sets but if MC RizlaDizla was to go by, then it was pumping. I did spot him on several occasions bopping his head to the Hard House choons (I thought RizlaDee didn’t like Hard House but I must be wrong :0)). The only thing which I was a bit disappointed about was the fact that not enough new hardcore was being played. Whilst I really love the old hardcore from 1998 onwards, I think that a mix of the new and the old would have been very successful. Wiggi did manage to slip in some new hardcore which was amazing and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Smackdown also played his own track for the first time. This was a wicked choon and everyone really got off his or her butts to have a dance! I was very impressed that at this TIMETunnel, nearly everyone was dancing, even Wrinkles had a little bop in the hardcore arena. This was a world exclusive and probably will never be seen again! Big up the lad in the white T-shirt with the black strip (sorry, didn’t get your name dude!) who was really impressive with the dancing! Overall, I thought it was a brilliant hardcore night and as it is the only one in Coventry at the moment, then I am sure that with a bit of perseverance then it will become a successful night! Big shout out to: Cruze and HEVhog, BenE and Hayley, John, Wiggi, Himbo, Titch, Smackdown, Gazy J, Jensta, Paul, Rizla Dizla, Wrinkles, DeeJayBee and Vision, the Guys from the Rocket (we love ya!!!) and also to anyone else I have forgotten.
