What a night this was. In just under 4 years of going to north at stoke this comes close to one of the best north nights ive ever had. For those who didnt know North moved to the extremely impressive Emporium in Coalville (Leicestershire) on friday for their first night, and those who have been to that venue youll have def agree why that club has received 'superclub' status. It has two rooms, the main room where the technology hardtrance/techno was situated and the back room held the radical hardcore techno arena. Got in around 9.15 where sharkey was supposed to be playing, but i was informed he couldnt make it beforehand so abyss was still on playing some nice hardtrance. I spent the next few hours chatting to old faces whilst checking out both rooms. The back room seemed to fill earlier than the main room, and that it was not long til the superb atmosphere that stayed til the end seem to pick up. To be honest i was really suprised with the vibe in here, people were too eager to shake hands, which i aint seen at the Norths at Stoke for a while, which goes to show how much people where enjoying themselves. However after the first few hours i spent most of the time around the main room, where Ribbz then M-Zone playing superb sets. It was about the time M-Zone started the main room really picked up a gear or two. Supported by Ribbz on the mic (he did a superb job by the way mcing in both rooms by himself for around 75% of the night) who always gets crowd hyped up...hence why he's the best mc imo. I then took a trip to see tieum from france who i didnt seem that impressive this time round but the crowd in tha back room were still in a frenzy so he must have been doing something right. I spent the couple of hours switchning between Clarkee, was played a good old set from tunes from 95-96, he played a lot less area 51 tunes than i thought he would play, but still went well, and Marco Cucchia and Vortex back in the main room. Marco played a typical italian techno/trance set which i seemed to enjoy which seemed a little slower than usual. Vortex as always played a tight italian hard trance mix which seem to pick up towards the end, just on cue for the last set of the night...enter Mark EG. Well this is where the night ended with a flourish, playing some superb hard trance the crowd were lapping it up big time, apply supperted by Ribbz these two really did a superb job. I always find these two complement each other really well, and there was no exception this time. Before you knew it it was time to go, after Ribbz got the crowd to give two superb responses for the night, just showing how much everyone enjoyed themselves. Overall, superb. Everything was right, the venue, sound system, tunes and most importantly the atmosphere. I managed to speak to some lads who made there first 'rave' as they so aptly put who said they usually go to Passion(gatecrasher style night if ya didnt know) on the saturday but gave this a go. They really enjoyed it especially as they were avin it to some nu skool....fair play boyz! I dont usually do reviews but i had to do one as this was such a wicked night, for those on ush who have been tempted to go to North but havent yet (i know theres a few of ya!) i really recommend going, especially at their new venue.
