United States of Hardcore
After sorting out my records for the night's set I proceed down into Sheffield town centre to the regular meeting point at The Howard Pub. On arriving I found that not many of the regular ravers were out. And the ones that were there, were going to the Gatecrasher White party at Republic that night. I stayed for a few beers then proceeded over to the National Center where a queue had formed quite nicely all the way around the side of the building. Upon entering the venue, The usual set up was on hand with the two main arenas. The first room was hosting the usual Music policy of Hard Dance. The second was hosted as a Hard House room. And of course the lobby area as the old skool chill out room. The main room line up had changed quite considerably with Paul-O not on hand and being replaced by DJ Devastate. And CJ Glover not attending either and being replaced in the first hour by DJ Gaz James. Even though I missed the first set by Gaz James, I heard He played an old bouncy techno style set that was quite good. Arriving in the hardcore room first I witnessed the second set of the night played by DJ Brisk who played a host of new Hardcore tracks including some unreleased and released ones. Including Scott Browns Nu- Skool Gabber remix of ‘Eye Opener’. I walked in and out of most rooms throughout the night witnessing DJ Topgroove in the main room playing his usual Uplifting trance set that had a slightly more beefiness to it tonight. As well as Amethyst playing some Spanish tracks mixed with his own Hinotori tracks, And adding his own effects with his electric guitar which was pretty cool, Almost like a live P.A. Next up on the decks was DJ Devastate playing loads of Up front Hardcore including the new E-Plus track "Definition of a bad boy" and some other dark hardcore tracks like "Ghetto Blaster" On Go Mental Dark and Scott Brown Nu- Skool mix of "Check the penis”. A walk through to the Hard House room saw Chris. C. On the decks playing a mix of hard house and hard trance which sounded quite good. The only let down was that the room was very empty so I didn't go in it for the rest of the night. Strolling threw the Chill out room a few times we noticed DJ Gaz James playing his second set of the night being a Progressive style trance set and also Unification regular DJ Pursuit playing an old Break Beat style set from the late 80`s / early 90`s. As 1am came along It was time for me to play. I played in the chill out room and played the first 40 minutes of my set old skool Break Beat including tunes such as "Champion Sound" by Q. Project, "Everybody In The Place" By The Prodigy and Rubarb & Custard. Then the last 30 Minutes of the set Club trance with tunes such as "Diving faces" By Liquid Child and "Dance Valley" by System. F. The last hour of the night I legged it into the main room for Uprising regular DJ M-Zone. The Hard trance master played his usual Hard as F**k Italian Kick drum set, which for me was definitely set of the night. Playing new tracks on labels such as Titanic and suntek. His set bettered his set at Future Dance the night before I think, probably just because of the atmosphere of a main room compared to a smaller one. As 2:45pm rolled on it was time to do some flyering outside and then off to bed. Even though it wasn't one of the best Uprising ever and the attendance did seem quite low it was still a good night non the less. The next Uprising is on Saturday 6th July at The Pavillion in Leeds, near Morley. It is a joint event with Compulsion and features some really big names over 2 arenas such as: Scott Brown. Topgroove. Paul-O. Sy. Demand. Styles & Breeze. This looks like a really good night so I suggest you all get down their. Shout outs to: Steph, Bri & Rachel. Dave Devastate. Gaz James & Lamb-E. Dave Devastate. Rich B. Part E. Shaun. Klieny. Tracey. Mick M-zone. Domer. DJ Pursuit. Shitlips. The guy who bought me a beer while I played and the uprising massive.
