I had been really looking forward to this night for ages. I finally was going to North and even better, The Emporium club in Coalville. I had heard great things about the club and event in the past so I felt quite confident that I was in for a very good night. Just as luck would have it, my driver's friend thought that it would be ok for him to wait for him to come, before picking me up to travel to the club. Because of this we were not able to pick up my mate Martin Space, who was looking forward to it as much as I was. And to top it off he made me 25 minutes late for my set leaving me to only play 20 minutes. Luckily my driver decided to hammer it down the M1 and thankfully the club was very easy to find. Upon arriving at the club I legged it to the Technology room where the first DJ of the night was playing. DJ Rpm, Who was playing an Acid techno set. The room seemed quite empty at the time but non-the less I got on with my Hard Italian Trance set. I played my set with a lot of quick mixing to get in a few more tracks. I ended up fitting in about 7 so that is not too bad. The tunes I played were 'Hard Drive' on Titanic, 'Fly To Me' on Future Sound Corp, 'First match' on Titanic, 'Now Or Never' on Uberdruck and 'Hardcore Will Never Die' on Tracid. And a few more nice dirty stormers :) Once finishing my set the dance floor had filled up quite well ready for the next DJ which was Epic. Who played the second Acid Trance /Techno set of the night. Finishing my set I decided to have a walk around the club. The Technology room was quite spacious, With 2 levels to it and raised platforms around and on the dance floor. There was also a large green laser situated at one side of the room covering the entire length of the dance floor. Which looked awesome. Accompanying it were about 10 other colored lights and scans, Setting the mood for the night brilliantly. Next to the Technology room was the Chill out room, which consisted of 1 of the 4 bars in the club. Some seating but not enough I felt And North Merchandise stall as well as Simon Underground record stall. We made our way to the Radical room which was hosting the Gabber for the night this room didn't seem much different, but seemed to be lacking in lighting more than the other, but was up to standard non the less. In there we had missed the first 2 DJ`s being The Terrorist & Sharkey. The 3rd DJ that played was Addiction who played very fast dirty gabber, consisting of pitched up Nu-Skool. The thing that set this room apart from the other was that the DJ box seemed a little bigger and included 5 decks wired up obviously for some crazy mash up! Next up in the same room was Species promoter and resident Matt Rage. Matt played probably the fastest set of the night which reminded me of an old Loftgroover set with all the mad little TV Show theme tunes under the 300 bpm. Techno kick drum. A very entertaining set non-the less. We wandered around a little more speaking to people and had a brief listen to Luke McMillan AKA The Producer in The Technology room. He played very strange, almost uplifting acid techno set, which was really good, but his antics behind the decks were tamer than they usually are. We stuck around for a while to see the mad man Mark EG, up to his usual antics behind the decks. His usual jumping around smacking himself in the head seems a bit tiresome now, but his tune selection was one of the best I have heard him play in ages. And his mixing seemed a lot better than usual too. Right after that was for myself set of the night in the Technology room, M-Zone B2B Vortex. They played the entire best Italian Hard trance you could think of and some pretty nasty German stuff too. The set was scheduled for 2 hours, so I thought I could see who was on in the Radical room for the second half. It was DJ Producer playing quite slower and darker than usual, playing a crunching darkcore set. The last few tunes of his set were the usual techy Death chant style. With a track that he seemed to know every noise and vox. And he was mimicking every part of the track, which looked absolutely mad. If Mark EG wants to learn how to really go crazy, then he could take great lessons from this guy. The last hour of the night was supposedly going to be for German Trance DJ. Mike Nero. But after a mail out this week via the net, he was not attending due to illness. So in his place was DJ Kevin Energy. Apparently though the attendance wasn't good enough and unfortunately Kevin was cancelled. I went up to the decks to see who was playing last hour and it was DJ Vortex. Before I knew it I was in the thick of it and doing a 1 hour B2B with him for the last hour. After 2 hours of Hard Italian Trance provided by M-Zone & Vortex. The crowd still seemed up for more so we happily obliged with some of the hardest tracks we had on labels like Stix, Wicked, Underground & Dance Pollution. All in all an absolute wicked night with one of the most up for it crowds I have ever been with. The only problem I really had with the night was that they only sold bottles. That were priced at over 3 quid !!! Ridiculous. The MCs were wicked including Ribbz, Squidgy .B. & the return of MC Ezy. I have definitely fallen in love with this club & event and am definitely looking forward to the next in September. Shouts go out to Martin Space (Who Couldn't make it), Andy Freestyle, Jake & Sam, John, Phil, Friction, Kambel, Andy Bowler, Gary Vibealite, Chedda, Slammin Sam, Smithers, Tugie, Matt Rage, Mike Teknoist, DJ Epic, MC Squidgy B, Doug Rascal, The bird who kept staring at me :-P & the bird who gave me a massage on the way out!
