United States of Hardcore

Slammin' Vinyl @ Bagleys 5th-Feb-1999

Got the train and tube to Kings Cross about 8:30pm. We walked into Macdonalds to stuff ourselves before the event, then walked round the corner to Bagleys. They let us in at about 9:15 and the sound of that hardcore beat filled the room. Bought my usual glowsticks and horn. Is £8 a slight knock for a horn or what? I was one of them wearing the white floppy hats, with my kappa trackies.

Stayed in the hardcore until 11PM and the start of Force & Styles. Then went outside for the meetup. Saw loadsa people, none of which I knew, so got myself a couple of cans of redbull and went back in for the last half hour of F & S. They played Field of Dreams at the end of their set, which tore the place up. Stayed in the hardcore until the next meetup at one. Meet a few people like Kev, who looked suprisingly happy, and Gal. Respect to ya fellas. Then went back in the hardcore. Raved until about half two, then went to look around. The garage room was full of people on the floor mongin out. Lightweights. Drum n Bass was packed, and old skool rockin'. Had to rush back for Sy and Unknown, with Storm. Played a bumpy set, with the lairy mc storm. Next up was Vibes and Smiley. For me this was the best set, especially in the second half, really kept it all going. This brought us up to 5 in the morning, and up stepped Slipmatt. His set was blindin, missed some of it walking around finding everyone. Last tune of the night was Shooting Star. Should have reloaded it again, but the lights were on by now, and they probably did not have time.

To sum up the night it was better organised than the last one, less packed in the hardcore, a lot more cooler. People seemed to start leaving earlier this time as well. Still the hardcore was rammed until the very end. old skool was literally deserted at aquarter to six when I left it. Dr S Gaschet in there I think. Shame they replaced Hixxy with Dougal, cos he was supposed to play at the last two events, when do we get to see him? Mc Storm announced Dougal as a suprise guest. Cant wait to get the tape pack and video, might see myself. There was that cool old bloke running around with the video camera. One last thing, who is going to Dreamscape on the 5th of March, and is there a United Dance right at the beginning of April. Big up everyone I saw, and see ya at the next one. Later on Ravers!!!!!
