United States of Hardcore

Hardcore Heaven - The Sanctuary 24th-May-2003

I've wanted to go to Hardcore Heaven for years and up until 5pm on Saturday afternoon I wasn't aware that 6 hours later I'd be walkin through the door at the sanctuary with all me favourite buddies hearing the sounds of Scott Brown pumping through the speakers.

As events would have it a couple of spare tickets became available for me and Jake - it would have been sooo rude to turn them down especially with the line up on offer.

Arrived after a two hour drive down the M1 - the Sanctuary is very easy to find and we were surprised to get excellent parking literally 1 min from the door, a lot better than when we came for Slammin Vinyl - it seemed a lot more organised.

The queue was quite long but went down very quickly - and one thing I noticed was how pleasant and efficient the doorstaff were. There seemed to be no arrogance or bullying tactics I've seen at other events - was run very smoothly and with smiles :0)

On entering the main arena I noticed how rammed it was - as usual when Scott Brown is playing the crowd always seems to goin off on one more than ever - this time was no exception. He was playin his usual tunes with usual response. I had no chice but to join in the fun as if you can't beat them join em. When Scott had finished his set I found it a lot easier to get my barings and go on a mission whilst Hixxy was playin.

I found the atmosphere all night pretty buzzin and I didn't see no trouble at all. That's what I love about these events - people literally have to travel miles to get here and have waited ages for the night to arrive so making trouble is the last thing on their minds and stompin hard is foremost - especially when Viper was playin a top set in the main arena. it's the first time I've seen him play and would definitely recommend anyone who hasn't seen him to grab the chance if the opportunity arises. 1 word...BANGIN.

After seeing Viper play I spent the rest of the night in the upstairs room watching Sharkey, Scorpio and Dolphin. Sharkey played a right set and even included Jakes tune 'IMPOSSIBLE DREAM' as his last tune, it went down a storm. Sharkey says he's been caning it in OZ and they love it.. Jake was buzzin hard. :0)

Next came Scorpio who played set of the night for me, he really got me and my mates stompin our socks off- it was one of those sets where you don't want to go the toilet in case you miss something - each tune was class.

Didn't get to see much of Dolphins set as my little sis wanted to go back to the car - she's not really into the harder style music so had to be fair and give in - I feel I left on a high after Scorpios set though.

All in all I had a right good night and went home a happy and soooooooo relieved I had Monday off work - will definitely be goin to Hardcore Heaven again - it lived up to all my expectations and more. :0)

BIG SHOUTS TO: Jake, Lee UHF, John, Stripper, Trigg, Taff, Jo, Emma, Katie, Jamie, AT & Slammin Sam
