United States of Hardcore
I decided to queue up at 8.30 as I didn't want to miss any of the rave as the line up looked pretty. If I had any problems at all with the night it would be the amount of time it actually takes for the security to get everyone in as I was in the line until 10 o'clock and to be honest it really pissed me off because I missed Gaz James b2b with Jake Nicholls who played flow on a vibe which is one of my favorite old skool tunes. When I got in to the Adelphi I decided to get on the dance floor as MC space was introducing the next DJ's, Robbie Long and Devestate. This was a good set from these guys playing VGT1 and project hardcore by DJ Viper. Next up was SY and Unknown, I was really looking forward to this set, and I wasn't disapointed at all. MC Natz took over the mic and IMO is a pretty good MC. SY and Unknown played come on by Scott Brown (Sy's remix), bring me round to love (SB's remix), commence and some wicked upfront tunes which I don't know the titles of. This was probably the best set of the night. Could I also add that Unknown is a really good scratcher. Up next was Kenny Sharp and Topgroove playing their hard trance stuff. I can't really pretend I like this stuff because I don't. I only realised one tune played and it was Children by Robert Miles ( I think ??) and this made the crowd go bonkers. MC Marcus and Domer where on the mic during this set and I'll tell u these blokes are very good. So when Kennys and Topgrooves set were over , the set seemed to last 4 hours!! Spinner and CJ Glover where up playing a old skool set. CJ started the session and played the old skool classic SMD1, this first tune was accompanied by some brilliant scatching. Spinner turned up 10 mins late into the set but CJ carried on belting the classics, but was really old breakbeat stuff and the dance floor was beginning to empty to my horror as I love old skool. Eventually about 40 mins into the set, I could hear one of my all time favourite tunes be mixed in by Spinner, jumpin pumpin! This really made my night as I have never heard it live at a rave. Spinner also dropped silk cuts 4 which also made the crowd go wild, especially me!! MC Space then brought it down and Spinner played Surrender last which I also think is a beast of track. Last but definately not least, Stu Allen and demand where b2b. I'd listened to stu at vibealite so I knew what to expect from his old skool sets. MC Marcus and Space where MC'ing for this last set and I really cant fault these guys they're billiant. Stu allen started off with hold me now by dj kaos, demand then mixed in love of my life, the original version. Many other cheesy classics where played aswell such as wonderful days, flying high, feelin fine, discoland ( the sound system crashed when this came on,lol) Dont leaveme alone, cold as ice, jumpin pumpin and party people remix. Towards the end of the set that women MC blagged her way onto the mic and I suppose she's an ok MC, I think her name is MC Q. All in all t'was a good night, the tune selection was wicked by all the hardcore DJ's, some good variation. I only have two problems with this event, the time it takes to get in the event and there where 4 foreign fat twats always dominating the dance floor and they never danced! All they were doing were talking and that pissed me off as I didn't have much room to rave. Rating 4/5............... Jacko
