I got the afternoon off work to allow time for the fantastic & mental drive to wales from doncaster, it wasnt a bad journey but seemed to go on forever! (thankfully I wasnt driving-just map-reading, which I think could be worse) we eventually found the area where the evolution club is situated & I must say I was very impressed, a new leisure park just outside the centre with casino, shops & a brand new hilton style hotel plaza building the maddest thing was checking in at the same time as pavo & bossi from cosmic gate & also have a few drinks with them in the lobby bar before the night started, waiting for brian (m) to escort them to the club, I was grinning lots more than usual as we went into the club I couldnt help noticing how big it seemed, & up market, for a 'rave' type event, they have really dropped on here - the decor & atmosphere were fantastic. mark eg was on, going his trademark mental & playing plenty of hardstyle & hardtrance, one I remember being a pink floyd rip. I think cosmic gate was on next, this was set of the night for me - minimal techno/trance grooves (& some melodic, more vocal material) much like the stuff on mazeman or by igor s fused with harder remixes of exploration of space & the truth as well as their new track 'skydive from the moon' featuring jan johnson (very nice & sat well a few after the new cosmic gate remix of cyb-'now') pavo was good & got the crowd going ape, very very hard hardstyle verging on gabber in places, pure minimal kicks & not much else here & there, which was nice to hear. lots of nice rap loops & techno elements with the odd tinge of a euphoric riff, just enough to set the crowd off again brian m was class also, lots of hardstyle, broken up nicely with blasts of euphoric trance & the surprise of the set was the clever dropping of the rank 1 airwave breaks mix-everyone was ready for this & the cheer was top notch cally & juice were last & played full on, prodigy rips, trance riffs & hard sections, long breakdowns & lots of cutting etc... made for a hectic last hour. a few tunes blew my mind, very large master maximum style basslines in places got me giddy, the set was all over with more elements than I could shake a stick at I initially thought there were a lot of beerheads in there but I was proved wrong, I was made to feel very welcome by the shaking of hands & smiling faces all night. I didnt see one bit of trouble & the club stayed packed right to the last tune all in all 10/10 thanks to brian for a top night & also for putting our names on the door, thus avoiding possible distress
