Wow want can i say it was okay werent it? not spectacular but ok. Arrived about 11.15 to find a massive queue of about 300 people which didnt seem to be moving! when i asked what this was i was told it was the queue for people without tkts! with only 100 tickets on sale on the night i lovingly cuddled my ticket and headed to the ticket holders queue! Swift queue time of about 4 mins just enough or that i was gagging for and i was in!!! As per usual only random searches were being conducted, which is alarming considering the pikey reputation the opera house has! Got in and headed straight for the cloakroom suprise suprise massive queues! After 20 mins I dropped off my bag and headed for the main arena! On route to the dancefloor the first thing i remember thinking was 'this place hasnt been this busy ever!' slinky cant even half fill it most fridays pmpl! the 2nd thing i noticed and what was possibly one of the biggest draws for me was i wanted to see what hardcore heaven did decor wise to the opera house! it had so much potential but suprise suprise we were greeted with the same slinky banners and inflatables as a slinky nite, no hardcore heaven decor what so ever! Not even the plasma screens which we've all grown to love! It suddenly dawned this was indeed slinky trying to get there name about as much as possible! Not wanting to be detoured i went to the bar in the old skool room to meet vince and raverdeepinside and to get a drink! Yep still £3.75 for a smirnoff ice sober nite for me lol! Had a little bit of a stomp in the old skool room to ramos i think while breeze n styles finished therye raverbaby stuff *not my cuppa* I ventured back out to the main room again making sure to take a few photos of the dancefloor looked an amazing sight! Suddenly the raverbaby stopped and i was greeted by the lovely thunderous hard sound of Mark EG! found my spot on the left hand podium making sure i had sum aces around me incase trouble arose (cheers rob 4 the eye out) and stomped my tiny frame off for the duration on the set only stopping once when i was poked in th bum by an iccle fairy in the form of carly madraver! The set finished and tbh i wish it was an 1hr set but hey with the extra hour missing off the liscence they had to cram em in! Next up was the first obligatory piss stop of the nite! Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the worst designed toilets in the world slinky style! pmpl! theres always massive queues and the toilet areas just aint big enough espically with akmed taking up two sink areas and urinal to sell you his fine knock off fragrences! lol! Huh another set back but hey i was here for the music so headed back into the main room greeted by the savage upliting sounds of DJ Brisk! Headed to the centre of the dancefloor or this one for a stomp with Astraboy(tm) and vince and ended up on the podium again for the end! wicked fast paced uplifting set, a bit of welcome anthem bashing tunes such as 'be happy', 'drunk on love' and the classic 'angel eyes' let the ravers know the nite had truely begun! Too bad about the floor being a bit too rammed and the off there nut chavlings who habit the dancefloor trying to cop off with anything in a skirt! ffs i want to stomp get out of my way! Back to bar for another drink this time the bar was hammered, got skanked out of a £20 because the bar said i gave him a £10! £13.75 for a smirnoff ice wow i love it here honest! oh well back on it! Mr Hixxys on the one raverbaby dj who's set i seem to enjoy! spent this set wondering round the dancefloor looking for peeps, got collared by a tug on the t-shirt and the familar voice of carly madraver! finally settled at the side of the arena (wow theres room to dance here) and had a stomp with carly and rob raverdeepinside. Not too familiar with raverbaby tunes but loving the hardcore rmx of 'your poison', good work to ian for dropping 'tantric' aswell, such a tune!!!! The next set didnt really need to happen at all, infact i think (imo) that it killed the nice hardcore atmosphere dead! oh yes it was time for the vs slinky part of the evening with uberdruck taking the decks with there very progressive style. Time to check out if the chill-out facilities again! Me and carly spent the about an hour bouncing between various places trying to ind sumwhere to sit! there is nowhere! the old skool room is too hot and you be buggered if you try sit anywhere remotely comortable as security are straight on it! best example of this is when carly went to sit down on a step by the vip room, i said jokingly i give her 2 seconds! total time sat on step 1 second pmsl! hmmm how about the cafe! no cant sit there unless your eating! lol! We eventually decide to venture out to the balcony and wait for scott brown! Just as we were reaching for the razor blades uberdrucks set finally finished thank god! Scott Brown started his set with a almost trademark mish mash song! started with the chant from boomstick and went into a bouncy techno break and mashed in with lets all get down! love it! dont think ive ever heard one of these the same yet! As Scott pounded out the bouncy hard anthems (lets face it everything on evo is an anthem) the floor picked up the pace for the rest of the evening! fantastic set featuring an awesome rmx of 'memories', 'taking drugs', 'rock ya body' and the always floor pleasing 'Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomstick!!!!!' wohooo i was flying, but managed to spend most of my energy! The time was now approaching 2.15 and sy came on the decks, but knowing the opera house cloakroom i decided it would be wise to get my bag now!!! Bit of a queue and not so bad. After i picked my stuff up i went and sat in the old skool room and had a sit down and a chat with carly! unknown was on the decks and played all the classic cheesey anthems 'shooting star' 'eyeopener' 'field of dreams' etc! Quality set. As the needle was taken off the deck in the old skool room we pegged it back to the main room for the last tune! Cant remember what it was lol! The evening finished and i was left satisied but not as impressed as i thought i would have been! Anyway this is my irst review in ages! hope it werent too much of a mish to read!
