United States of Hardcore
Another wickeed night from the slammin boys! Arrived about 5pm, but the security didn't let anyone in till about 8.45 and kept the doors shut to the arenas until 9.15, meaning that Sharkey played to himself for an hour. The annoying thing was that you could hear the music and the MC, but the security wouldn't lead you in. By the time I was in Vinyl Trixta was on with Storm and the party started nicely. He handed over to Hixxy, who was accompanied by Whizz Kid and started off with some fresh trance tunes, moving into hardcore and finishing with "Blue Sky Day". Vinyl Groover and Charly B finished and played a set that contained a lot of remixes of old stuff including "I Need Your Lovin" and "Cold As Ice". Sy+Unknown with Storm were next and started off well with the new mixes of "Love of my life " and "Head In The clouds", but then played all the anthems one after another ie Shooting Star, Dreadland, All I Need etc... Upstairs Sharkey+Energy smashed it up and this was prolonged by half an hour to cover for a no show Loftgroover. Clarkee also played for an hour and a half in his absence. Back downstairs Seduction played a mix of old and new, finishing with the wicked "Gotta Believe". Accompanied by Whizz Kid this was probably the best set of the night. By now all the MC's had bugered off to Dreamscape and Brisk came on with Odyssey. He played a nice set and was followed by Force and Styles with Junior and though the crowd loved it, there wasn't a lot of new stuff and Pacific Sun, Feelin Fine etc... cropped up. After that Dougal and Vibes swapped sets. Dougal with Stix Man played a nice set, something a little different and were followed by Vibes minus Livelee. He was accompanied by Frosty and NRG and played some stilton amongst good stuff, finishing with "I Need Your Lovin". Last set belonged to Slipmatt and Storm, back from Dreamscape, and a wicked set followed, although I wimped out at about 6.45 Anyway a wicked night. Over in the rollers, the drum and bass room was packed as well and the music was firing in there all night long. One or two moans though; Although the security were wll humoured all night, how come it was 9.15 by the time the arena's opened, meaning I missed Sharkey? And what happened to Loftgroover, Rat Pack, Andy C and Bryan Gee along with MC's Livelee, Jester and Skibadee. Frenzic and Funktion did a good job covering for Andy C and Bryan Gee, but they were missed. Anyway, it was a smashing night, when's the next one?
