United States of Hardcore
I had spent all day trying to convince a good friend of mine to drive to Clacton. As it was the last Epidemik event on the renowned Clacton pier I had decided that I was going to get well hammered. Well the time had finally come and I was not driving, yep I was in the car and heading for the sand the waves the freezing cold. It was quite a sad affair for me because I have really enjoyed every Epidemik that Grant and Sean and the rest of the crew had put on there. Respect on that note to all the Epidemik crew especially Grant and Sean who kept going even though the odds were stacked highly against them. Keep it going Grant & Sean it will pay off eventually chaps. Firstly let me award the security 10 out of 10. Every time that I have attended an Epidemik event I have found the security to be nothing short of professional and polite. These people are good roll models for all other security firms. Anyway it was a good night, the hardcore arena has now been moved into the front room as regulars will know and it was wicked. I arrived to the sounds of DJ Shades rinsing his hard cutting edge selection, and then DJ Jesta didn’t turn up so storm shades and myself went on a mixing free for all which was a good crack. After the mayhem had finished I went into the main arena to catch a bit of D&B. By this time it was getting quite busy, everyone waiting for Ray Keith to turn up. Charlie B was on the Mic and the party atmosphere was beginning to increase by the minute. Then I went back into the hardcore arena to play. I started off with an older selection of tunes, the unknown project and sense of summer to name but a few and worked my way through to the more up to date stuff. When I had finished I nipped into the main arena to catch the last hour of Ray Keith’s set and the crowd were loving it, as he dropped one classic tune after tune plus a few others that I had never heard before. Well yet again another wicked Epidemik event, it is just such a shame that it will be the last one at the pier. I know that Grant and Sean love Oscars as a venue, so it will come as a heavy blow for them. But, there is always but isn’t there. Grant and Sean are both looking for new venues to keep the Epidemik name alive, which is fucking excellent news for all ravers and the scene in general. In my eyes there are not enough organisations that put on events for the love of it, it is all money, money and more money. Well I can categorically tell you that Epidemik (Grant and Sean) are definitely not in it for the money. Maximum respect to Grant and Sean and all involved with Epidemik. Support Epidemik, support the scene. Shouts :- Grant, Sean, Lee, Richard, Jamie, Carl, Storm, Trixxe-d, Anne-Marie all Dj’s all Mc’s and everyone else who helped the night run smoothly.
